The start of December means only two weeks left until the deadline for the DAAD's popular RISE internship programs for students in the Natural Sciences or Engineering. RISE offers internship opportunities for both Undergraduate and Graduate students in these fields. See below for full details.

RISE Germany and RISE professional Internships
RISE, DAAD's popular internship programs for students in the Natural Sciences and Engineering are accepting application for internship opportunities in 2021 until December 15, 2020.
RISE Germany provides 10-12 week summer research internships to undergraduate students in the lab of a German doctoral candidate. The working language in the lab is English.
RISE professional is geared towards Master's and PhD-level students wanting to carry out an internship in a German workplace. In addition to English-language workplaces, applicants with German language skills will find more opportunities open to them.
Successful applicants to these programs receive a living allowance to cover expenses while on the internship, health insurance and a stipend to help offset transatlantic travel.

Stages RISE Allemagne et RISE professionnel
RISE, le populaire programme de stages du DAAD pour les étudiants en sciences naturelles et en ingénierie, accepte les demandes de stages de 2021 jusqu’au 15 décembre 2020.
RISE Allemagne propose des stages de recherche d’été de 10 à 12 semaines aux étudiants de premier cycle dans le laboratoire d’un candidat allemand au doctorat. La langue de travail dans le laboratoire est l’anglais.
RISE professionnel s’adresse aux étudiants du deuxième et troisième cycle qui souhaitent effectuer un stage sur un lieu de travail allemand. En plus des lieux de travail anglophones, les candidats ayant des compétences en allemand trouveront davantage d’offres.
Les candidats retenus dans le cadre de ces programmes reçoivent une allocation de subsistance pour couvrir les dépenses pendant le stage, une assurance maladie et une allocation pour aider à couvrir les frais du voyage transatlantique.

University Summer Course Grant
DAAD's University Summer Course Grant supports German language learners from Canadian universities who wish to participate in a 3-4 week summer school at a German university. This program is open to students at all levels of study (Bachelor, Master's or PhD) and provides a lump sum of 950 euros to offset tuition fees as well as a subsidy to help cover transatlantic travel.

Ce programme est ouvert aux étudiants de tous les niveaux d’études (baccalauréat, maîtrise ou doctorat) et prévoit un montant forfaitaire de 950 euros pour compenser les frais de scolarité ainsi qu’une subvention pour aider à couvrir les frais de voyage transatlantique.

Dr. Kai Sicks to assume post in spring 2021
DAAD Appoints New Secretary General
The DAAD's Executive Committee has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Kai Sicks as the organization's new Secretary General beginning in February of next year. Dr. Sicks will succeed Dr. Dorothea Rüland and comes to DAAD from the University of Bonn where he was the Head of Department of International Affairs.
DAAD President Joybrato Mukherjee stated at the Executive Committee meeting, "'In Kai Sicks, the DAAD is gaining the services of an extremely experienced science manager with extensive experience in the internationalisation of the higher education system."

Le DAAD nomme un nouveau secrétaire général
Le comité de direction du DAAD a confirmé la nomination de Kai Sicks, Ph. D. comme nouveau secrétaire général de l’organisation à partir de février de l’année prochaine. M. Sicks succédera Dorothea Rüland, Ph. D. et arrive au DAAD en provenance de l’Université de Bonn où il était chef du département des affaires internationales.
