News from DAAD Canada

DAAD hits the ground running with the start of the new semester. DAAD will be presenting webinars providing an overview of our programs for students (Monday, October 1st, 3:30 pm EST) and faculty/postdocs (Thursday, September 27th at 1 pm EST). Full details below. We would also like to bring several imminent program deadlines to your attention. First up is the EMGIP-Bundestag Internship for late-stage Bachelor or Master's students with its deadline of September 15th. Faculty should take note of the October 15th deadline for submissions to the Research Stays program which supports stays in Germany between 1 and 3 months in length. Finally, September sees the first of the deadlines for the various streams of our Study Scholarship supporting graduates of Canadian Bachelor programs pursuing Master's level study in Germany. Looking ahead, DAAD will be in Montreal for several student and faculty information sessions in early October; see below for details. Le DAAD présentera des séminaires en ligne offrant un bref aperçu de nos programmes pour étudiants (le lundi 1 octobre 2018 à 15:30h (heure normale de l‘Est) et pour post docs, chercheurs et professeurs (le jeudi 27 septembre 2018 à 13h (heure normale de l’Est). Tous les détails ci-dessous.   Nous aimerions également attirer votre attention sur plusieurs dates limites de dépôt de candidature. La première date limite sera pour le stage EMGIP au Parlement allemand pour des étudiants en BA et Master : le 15 septembre. Les chercheurs et professeurs universitaires pourront poser une candidature pour des séjours de recherche entre 1 et 3 mois le 15 octobre. Finalement, il y aura les premières dates limites de dépôt de candidature des bourses d’études de Master pour des étudiants canadiens souhaitant faire des études de Master en Allemagne. Par la suite, le DAAD sera à Montréal pour plusieurs séances d’information pour étudiants, chercheurs et professeurs universitaires au début d’octobre ; plus de détails ci-dessous.

Deadlines: September - November Study Scholarship for Master's Studies DAAD's Study Scholarship supports graduates of Canadian Bachelor programs doing Master's level degree studies at a German university. This scholarship has a number of application streams with different deadlines. While students from most fields will apply to the November 5th deadline, this is not the case for most students in artistic fields. Full details on DAAD's Study Scholarship, including deadline information and details on how to apply, can be found at www.daad-canada.ca/study-scholarship  Dates limite : septembre - novembre Bourse d' é tudes    La bourse d’études de Master du DAAD offre du soutien aux étudiants canadiens en vue de faire des études de Master à une université allemande. Il existe plusieurs catégories de cette bourse avec de différentes dates limites de dépôt de candidature. La plus part des étudiants poseront leur candidature le 5 novembre, par contre ce n’est pas le cas pour des étudiants en art, musique ou architecture. October 1, 2018 - 3:30 to 4:30 pm EST DAAD Student Programs Webinar Join DAAD for a webinar on our full range of programs for students enrolled at North American universities on Monday, October 1st from 3:30 - 4:30 pm EST . This webinar will introduce DAAD's scholarship and grant programs to support study, research or German language acquisition. DAAD offers programs to support students at Bachelor, Master's and Doctoral levels. DAAD has programs to supports students from all fields of study. Deadline: September 15, 2018 EMGIP-Bundestag Internship EMGIP (Émigré Memorial German Internship Program) offers internship opportunities in the German parliament, the  Bundestag to U.S. and Canadian students Applicants are advanced Bachelor or Master's level students with excellent German language skills (both spoken and written). Interns often come from the fields of political science, IR, law, history, economics or German Studies. The application deadline is September 15th . October 2 - 4, 2018 DAAD in Montreal DAAD will be in Montreal during the first week of October for several information sessions. On Tuesday, October 2nd , DAAD will present information sessions for students at the Goethe-Institut Montreal ( 1626 boul. St-Laurent ; Metro: St-Laurent) at 2 pm (English) and 3 pm (French). On Wednesday, October 3rd , we will present an information session for faculty, postdocs and PhD students at McGill University, Room 301, James Adminstration Building. On Thursday, October 4th , we will take part in an event at Concordia University promoting research opportunities in Europe and with European partners . This event runs from 1:00 to 3:30 pm and takes place in Concordia U. Convention Centre ( John Molson Building, 9th Floor, 1450 Guy). For further details, click here . 2-4 octobre 2018 DAAD à Montréal Le DAAD Canada sera à Montréal dans les premières semaines d’octobre pour quelques séances d’information.  Le mardi 2 octobre le DAAD Canada donnera des séances d’information pour les étudiants universitaires à Montréal à l’Institut Goethe Montréal ( 1626 St-Laurent ; Metro: St-Laurent). Deadline: October 15, 2018 Research Stays for Faculty DAAD's Research Stays for faculty supports visits to Germany by full-time faculty based at North American universities. These stays may run between 1 and 3 months in length and the program is open to faculty from all fields. The next deadline for this program is October 15th . September 27, 2018 - 1:00 - 2:00 pm EST Faculty Programs Webinar DAAD will present a webinar on its range of grant programs for faculty and postdocs on Thursday, September 27th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm EST . In addition to details on DAAD's suite of faculty and postdoc-related grants, this webinar will present information on grants offered by several other German research funding organizations. Deadline: September 12, 2018 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowships MSCA Individual Fellowships support the mobility of experienced researchers (with PhD or at least four years of research experience). The Fellowships provide North American researchers an opportunity to conduct research at a university, research institute or company in Europe. Toronto: September 28, 2018 European Day of Languages The European Day of Languages Toronto 2018 will take place on  Friday,   September 28, 5:00 - 8:30 pm  at the  Spanish Centre ( 46 Hayden Street , Yonge/Bloor subway ).
