Dr Ada Bieber started as the new director of the DAAD Information Centre in Sydney in January. Before moving to Australia, Ada worked at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and other universities in Germany. Ada also has a background as a publishing manager, and as a fully trained teacher.
"I am excited and grateful to be working for the DAAD in Australia. I have previously held a variety of positions in academia and education in Germany, and it is great to bring this experience to Australia while also learning many new things here. Coming from Berlin, where I have been living for the last 3 years, living and working in Australia, in a city like Sydney, is a different but wonderful experience. My new job offers great opportunities to connect with partners in Sydney and elsewhere in Australia. It's fantastic to work with interesting people, and to promote Germany as a great country for study and research. I look forward to working with the DAAD team and all our partners here."

As many of you will know, Joern's contract as director ended in June 2015. In his 3 years at the helm, Joern was able to add on to and step up many of our activities, in particular in social media and, more importantly, with regards to
RAMP which keeps going from strength to strength.
Joern was instrumental in getting the RAMP website started, finally giving us the perfect tool to expand our mentoring database and improve our match up of mentoring pairs, and in hiring our fantastic RAMP Coordinator Kerrie, setting up RAMP for the future.
We – and many of our alumni and RAMP members who have personally told us so – will miss his dry style, self-deprecating humour, hard work and commitment.
Thanks for a fantastic 3 years, Joern, and all the best for the future!

As 2015 came to a close, unfortunately so did our stellar colleague Tülay's time at the DAAD. We've not only lost a committed, enthusiastic and hard-working colleague but also a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of our DAAD work, in particular about studying in Germany and all the nitty-gritty details of applying for our scholarships and how to get that application just right!
We will miss Tülay and her positive attitude, her experience, her expertise and her unwavering support and reliability.
Thanks for all your hard work, Tülay, and all the best for the future!

Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in
cooperation with Humboldt Universität zu Berlin
The core of the Masters Program relies on three thematic building blocks, which are communicated using different teaching methods with the participation of the three aforementioned partner institutions:
Design as research – analysis of the synthesising practices; design as projection – anticipation and intervention strategies; design in the world – impact and application.
Students apply with a letter of intent, referring thereby to one of the three thematic building blocks. The modules combine theory and practice and research-orientated and projective studies: The teaching formats combine and give equal weight to the formulation of analysis and experimentation, text and image, material and object.

Become a versatile industrial manager through MBA&E studies at the HTW Berlin
The Master of Business Administration & Engineering (MBA&E) is a three-semester, English-language Master programme aiming at a technical management career profile. Typical graduates target positions in areas like production management, supply chain management and project management. MBA&E graduates often work at multinational companies and in international environments.
Programme structure and specializations
Our top priority is to help our students advance in their careers. The MBA&E curriculum provides a high level of employability after the studies. The programme rests on four pillars:
- A balance of solid management and technology skills giving graduates job market versatility
- Four specialization options to allow graduates target jobs in specific functions or industries
- A broad range of managerial employability skills taught throughout the curriculum
- A Master thesis and an optional internship to enhance job-readiness and business acumen
In addition to the two core modules -
General Management and
Technology & Engineering, the MBA&E curriculum includes a specialization option that specializes students in an area of their choice. At the moment, the following four specialization options are offered:
- Automotive Management. Drawing upon the experience of the German automotive sector, the specialization prepares its students for jobs at OEMS, suppliers and consulting.
- Interdisciplinary Management. Prepares participants for the management of complex and interdisciplinary projects at the interface of technology and people.
- Lean Management. Focuses on the optimization of production, logistics and administrative processes and applies across a number of different sectors.
- Global Procurement. Prepares for the set-up and management of international procurement and outsourcing projects, covering technical, managerial and intercultural aspects.
