October 9th is DAF Day, a national day of community giving

In 2025, our mission to reduce suffering and improve lives faces unprecedented challenges. Today, please help stand up for it together.

DAF Day is a national day of giving with donor advised funds. A DAF is a tax-advantaged charitable savings account (like a 401k for giving). Any person, couple, family–or even company–can open a DAF account. DAFs help streamline philanthropy and have surged in popularity in recent years.

Here’s how you can help Humanity First USA make DAF Day 2025 a powerful show of strength through generosity:

Make a grant through your DAF: If you already use a donor advised fund, recommended a grant to Humanity First USA! Find us with EIN 200464012.

Get a DAF: Major financial institutions, community funds, and digital companies offer DAFs. You can start small and enjoy tax benefits this year (and remember HFUSA in your giving!). A guide by DAF Day organizers is available here.

Learn more about what your DAF grant to HFUSA can support.

Thank you, as always, for being a part of the Humanity First USA community.

World Sight Day #LoveYourEyes

On World Sight Day, Humanity First USA celebrates the people who have trusted Humanity First USA to restore their sight and the dedicated medical professionals who care daily for patients' eye health.

People like Wolfgang, who lost his job due to poor vision. His surgery at Nasir Hospital during our Gift of Sight mission last May gave him renewed hope for the future.

Hear his message, and scroll stories from volunteer Paula and patient Angelina, too.

A man speaks to the camera from a hospital waiting room. He wears a t-shirt with glasses and sunglasses hanging from the collar.

Humanity First USA's Gift of Sight medical missions to Guatemala bring international volunteers together with local Nasir Hospital staff to treat patients and maintain long-term eye care.

Our Gift of Sight program in Mali and Burkina Faso extends the reach of local Ophthalmologists and medical staff to serve more patients in rotating towns. Western Africa has a high number of people with cataracts that affect daily life and independence, particularly for vulnerable elders.
