DAISY MORTEM release new single 'Étoiles'
Daisy Mortem is described by Fucking Young as «one of the wildest and most danceable projects to be talked about in the French underground», or by Vice as «heckling the time, taking her by the collar and Shaking it to better extract a raw essence», Daisy Mortem is a real UFO in the French-speaking landscape. After having accompanied groups such as Ic3peak or GFOTY on entire tours, Daisy Mortem was spotted by Catnapp who released their first album, «Faits Divers», on her label Napp Records.
In 2021 the new label Daaganda Records, a division of Jarring Effects and Atypeek Music, released the single 'Étoiles' and the album “Fausse Nouvelle” coming soon (Monday 31 May 2021).
«Fausse nouvelle» sets a new milestone in the fantastic trajectory of the duo Daisy Mortem. Unlike «Faits divers», the approach this time is oriented towards collaboration: you will note the presence of producers such as the duo Cyberkills, flagships of the Brazilian LGBT scene having collaborated with Pabllo Vittar and Charli XCX, or even Metaroom, small genius purveyor of hyper-pop under amphetamines nourished by internet culture. It is always as much the shift that characterizes the group’s approach: making us dance to a story of dead cats (“L’Empoisonneur De Chats”) or making the sexy idea of being devoured alive (“Gamelle”). Kind of adventures that await you with Daisy Mortem. But it is also more metaphysical and social themes that are approached, such as the questioning of reality Monday 31 May 2021 (“Fausse nouvelle”), the despair and boredom of the suburbs and the countryside («Étoiles «) or the rejection of ‘a society sanitized through “Prohibition 2050”, taken from Brigitte Fontaine, thus underlining the universality of lyrics written by a singer who is celebrating her 81 years today and that the young duo is re-appropriating. Musically, the group continues to deepen an aesthetic of contradiction, mixing gothic vibes with reggaeton rhythms, futuristic pop and experimental music.
At the end of the album, three remixes, including one by Mr. Kitty, prince of synth-pop, end up exploding any attempt at too strict a musical definition.
