Dear Dana Point Boater,

The Dana Point Harbor Oversight Advisory Committee (DPHOAC) will host a Town Hall Meeting on Friday, June 21st. Supervisor Foley will be in attendance as well as Christian Gagne, OC Oversight Manager for the revitalization. Click here for a link to the event flyer. RSVP’s are requested.

We hope to see many concerned boaters at the meeting to voice the questions and concerns you have regarding the revitalization to date. Be prepared with constructive questions and suggestions.

On June 22nd, from noon to 3 p.m., DPBA is hosting a boater meet and greet ice cream social in the patio area of the Sailing and Events Center. The DPBA board hopes to see many of you there. We want to meet you personally if we haven’t already done so and want to thank you for your support. We’d love to hear your comments from what you learned at the Town Hall meeting, but most importantly the event is for boaters to meet each other and have some fun. Alyssa Napuri, Supervisor Foley’s Deputy Chief of Staff will be in attendance and would love to meet you too!

To ensure we have enough ice cream sandwiches for everyone, please pre-order yours by 10 a.m. on June 17th. We have to place our final order by noon. Click here to order. We are checking into the availability of a dinghy dock if you want to arrive by dinghy. We will advise once we have an update.

At the May 21st DPHOAC meeting, slip rates were discussed. The minutes reflect: “Because of the disagreement regarding the definition of the “market”, Supervisor Foley committed to funding a study, that would incorporate additional variables other than just Orange County marinas, to be used for evaluating future slip rate increases as projected in the DPHP 5 Year Plan. The Orange County Real Estate Department was then tasked with determining what the marina “market” should consist of for the study as well as the other demographic data that should be included. A presentation of their findings would then be made to the committee at the next meeting before launching the study.”

To quote Supervisor Foley’s June 7th newsletter she states, “I remain committed to working with our County Real Estate Office to ensure that any rate increases by the Partners stay within market values and do not adversely affect our boaters.”

DPBA weighed in on the proposed DPHP Five-Year Plan in an April 29, 2024, letter to Supervisor Foley. Click here to read it. We feel it is flawed and do not support it.

Lastly, if you want to make public comments at the CA Coastal Commission hearing on June 14th regarding the LUP Amendment approving two hotels in the harbor and reducing boater services click here for instructions on how to do so.
