FUSED TUTU ... "Ballet With a Twist"

Thursday, Nov 14, 7:30pm

VROOM! And so starts
FUSED TUTU. Careening in on a motorcycle with a ballerina in full tutu regalia, this full-length repertory program pulls out all the stops!

A fusion of classical ballet, contemporary dance and even hip-hop (in pointe shoes!), it leaves you breathless. From the romance of 'Sleeping Beauty' to the craziness of Bach-infused Hip-Hop, to the pure beauty of liquid contemporary ballet and the brazen boldness of pop icon Queen, it is an extraordinary evening of dance entertainment.

From tutus to jeans, chiffon to denim, pure delight. To dance is to be wild with creativity, so sit back, have fun, and enjoy the ride!

Celebrate the Holiday Season with The Nutcracker. The all-time family favorite with beautiful dancing, sets and costumes. Sheer magic!

Tiny toy soldiers and gigantic mice .... waltzing flowers and then the exquisite Sugar Plum Fairy and her brave Cavalier.  It wouldn't be the holiday season without the NUTCRACKER!

Take a trip to Loveland!

How do I love Thee, a sweet and vibrant work with choreography by our resident choreographer Judy Skinner and colleague Ani Collier, is inspired by the beautiful 'Sonnets from the Portuguese' by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Moonlight Sway is a creation by newly appointed resident choreographer Brian Carey Chung: "I use the two most influential pieces of music on the subject of the moon, 'Clair de Lune'  and 'Moonlight Sonata'. It is about the pull of the moon, and therefore, a love story, in the form of a double duet."

Our finale, Someone to Love, a new ballet by Artistic Director Kim Tuttle, says it all. Love and friendship, romance and passion - from Cinderella to rock and roll, the Dance Alive dancers embrace the world with the  gifts of expression and talent. Family friendly.

"Athletes of God" is a dance celebration to music by Johannes Sebastian Bach. Choreographer Brian Carey Chung aims to capture the magnitude of the difficulties inherent in Bach's music as well as its liminal qualities, which balance its everyman listenability with its just-out-of-reach sublime. Ballet seems the most well-equippedfor such transcriptional tasks. Get ready for an Olympian effort by the dancers in this hour-long performance as they render themselves athletes of the divine. The ballet will not ask the question, who is God, but rather, who or what is God because of us. The choreographer's hope is to animate the ineffable mysteries (matters of life, death and love) inherent in the music when a great dancer transports us from the gravity of existence into awe
