DASNY Helps Preserve History with Old Fort Johnson
Resiliency Project
DASNY and the Governor's Office of Storm recovery teamed up to ensure the Old Fort Johnson historical site in Montgomery County will be able to safely greet visitors for many years to come.

A flood control project and site improvements are now complete. DASNY supervised the project and administered funding through a grant from GOSR.

The stream bed was reconfigured to hold more water, with a new flood wall and concrete bridge supports.

Access to the 1749 house from the parking lot has been improved with paved sidewalks, and you'll also notice some new trees. Visitors are expected to be welcomed back to the site in the spring.
