RIDING THE
OHIO TO ERIE TRAIL
August 5 - 12, 2018

    Today we rode  46 miles.  We left Massillon shortly after 7:30 in heavy fog.  We went thru the Stark County and Summit County sections of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail, then on to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and ended at the Boston Visitors Center. 
   
Most of the trail is crushed stone and slightly up and down, not dead flat like some rail trails. While this is not the hilly Wayne County roads of yesterday, can still be a bit tiring. Regardless, it was a big day with lots to see and plenty of enjoyable stops along the way.  A great stretch of trail!

Riding the floating towpath through The Beaver Marsh
is always a highlight of the ride.
Check out these fantastic traffic lights in downtown Akron!
The top is a lighted bicycle shape.

Lunch at the always popular Diamond Deli in Akron.
Reading the menu is entertaining.  You can look for LeBron's favorite wrap.

A stop at the Cascade Locks.

A visit to the Mustill Store is indeed a MUST.
Once the fog lifted, the weather made for a perfect day.

We were done around 2:40 and then spent some time at the Boston Visitors Center.
  Most of the riders were shuttled up the 4.5 mile uphill road to the hotel in Hudson.
Our van took us to Fishers Pub in Peninsula for supper and then to Country Maid Ice Cream. We are all looking forward for the ride in to Cleveland on Sunday!

SUN: AUG. 12 : Hudson to Cleveland (24 m);  Celebrate, load and drive home!
