Fulton Financial Corporation Receives Regulatory Approvals for Prudential Bancorp, Inc. Acquisition

Fulton Financial Corporation is pleased to announce that both the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities have approved the respective applications by Fulton to acquire Prudential Bancorp, Inc. and, indirectly, to acquire Prudential Bank, located in Philadelphia.


“These regulatory approvals mark an important milestone in this acquisition, which will further strengthen Fulton’s presence in the Philadelphia region,” said E. Philip Wenger, Fulton’s Chairman and CEO. “With these approvals, we remain on track to bring our talented teams together to help even more customers and communities in Philadelphia achieve financial success.”


The proposed acquisition in which Prudential will merge with and into Fulton in a stock and cash transaction was publicly announced on March 2, 2022, and remains subject to the approval of Prudential shareholders. A special meeting of Prudential shareholders to vote on the merger is scheduled to be held virtually via the Internet on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., eastern time.

Texas Bankers Association Foundation

- Comforting Uvalde

In the wake of the recent tragic events at the Robb Elementary School in the community of Uvalde, Texas, bankers in the Lone Star State and across America are committed to supporting the families of victims as well as impacted educators and first responders.


Leading locally is the First State Bank of Uvalde which has established the Robb School Memorial Fund to support Robb School families.


Additionally, the Texas Bankers Association (TBA) and Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) have united to provide additional support via the Uvalde Community Response Fund. In coordination with the First State Bank of Uvalde and other local community banks, the fund will direct all proceeds to comfort and support the families impacted.

SEC Expands Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit

On May 3, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that it will greatly expand its cryptocurrency and cybersecurity unit by adding 20 positions. The additional positions will bring the unit’s total members to 50, nearly doubling its size. The new hires will include supervisors, staff attorneys, trial counsel, and fraud analysts.


SEC Chair Gary Gensler said that ”[b]y nearly doubling the size of this key unit, the SEC will be better equipped to police wrongdoing in the crypto markets while continuing to identify disclosure and controls issues with respect to cybersecurity.”


The announcement also reveals a name change for the unit, from “Cyber Unit” to “Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit.”
