The DC College Access Program(DC-CAP) is a privately-funded nonprofit organization. 
With the help of our supporters, we are on a mission to encourage and enable all DC public and private charter high school student to enroll in and graduate from college.

DC-CAP Awards $2.6 Million to Nearly 600 College Freshmen

DC-CAP held its annual Pre-College Seminars on July  13 and 27, 2019.  Nearly 600 first-year freshmen and their parents attended this day long seminar at Catholic University.  

Presenters included:   community organizations, representatives form local colleges/universities, DC College Savings Plan and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education.   Students and parents had the opportunity to attend workshops geared toward preparing them for college such as "Surviving Your 1st Year of College", "Parent Financial Aid Workshop", and "Time Management."

DC-CAP's Pre-College Seminars are designed to give students and parents an opportunity to receive information and support prior to departing for college.  They were able to ask current college students and recent college graduates questions  covering a wide range of topics. Students were also able to meet others who will be attending their respective schools prior to arriving to campus.   At the end of the events, DC-CAP awarded nearly $2.6 million dollars in scholarships.  
Seeking Students Who are Interested  in STEM!

Th e STEM Incentive and Scholarship Program (SISP) is seeking 9th and 10th grade students at CHEC, Capital City PCS, and Phelps for its STEM Ready Program.  The program is designed to help students improve their grades in mathematics, science and standardized test scores.  Students who participate in the STEM Ready Program can earn scholarship money for college for every A & B final grade in eligible mathematics and science classes throughout high school.

Ward 7&8 Students Can Earn Up to $25,000 in College Scholarships

The Ward 7&8 Scholars Program provides student support services and scholarship funding to help increase high school and college graduation rates in Wards 7&8 of Washington, DC.  The program provides high intensity support services for 11th grade students, and a scholarship of up to $5,000 per year for up to five years.  

11th grade students who attend the following schools are eligible to participate in the program:
  • Anacostia High School 
  • Ballou/STAY High School
  • César Chavez PCS - Parkside
  • Friendship Collegiate Academy PCS
  • Friendship Tech Prep
  • HD Woodson High School
  • IDEA PCS
  • Maya Angelou PCS
  • National Collegiate PSC
  • Ron Brown College Preparatory High
  • SEED PCS
  • Kipp DC Somerset College Prep PCS
  • Thurgood Marshall Academy PCS

DC-CAP College Representatives Needed!

The DC-CAP College Representative Program establishes positive relationships and communications between fellow DC-CAP students, university officials and the DC-CAP College Retention staff. Representatives serve as extensions of DC-CAP in order to create and maintain DC-CAP's presence on campuses across the country with the goal of w orking with DC-CAP students on their road to graduation.

As a College Representative students have the opportunity to develop leadership and communications skills, enhance their resume, and help their fellow students to excel.

Qualifications:
* 2.5 Cumulative GPA
*DC-CAP public or public charter high school graduate
*College Sophomore Classification or higher

DC-CAP will start accepting applications for is 12th Annual DC-CAPITAL STARS Gala  on August 26, 2019 .  This citywide competition  is DC-CAP's largest fundraiser of the year and showcases the outstanding artistic abilities of college-bound DC high school students as they perform at the John F. Your Commitment

For one hour volunteers have the opportunity to visit students, talk about their careers and discuss how a college education played a part in their success.
