DCAN Update | November 23, 2021
#GIVINGTUESDAY
GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity that takes place on Nov. 30, 2021. This global movement unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. We encourage you to donate as early as today!

DCAN is excited to participate in Giving Tuesday for the third year. Your giving has a significant impact on our mission to:

  • Help high school counselors and advisers create more college access experiences for their students.
  • Support students and the community with high-quality SAT preparation, college exposure, and more.
  • Support our student initiatives that help them create college lists and connect them with skilled trade opportunities

If you believe in our mission, please chip in HERE with as little as $10, if able. Our goal is to raise $2,000 by December 3rd.

DCAN INITIATIVES
THE COLLEGE FIT PROJECT
Sign Up Your School by December 3rd!
The College “Fit” Project is a pilot campaign to engage learning how to determine the best "fit" schools. The Detroit College Match tool focuses on the academic alignment for match, reach and safety in conjunction with African American graduation rates, it does not however take into account the social-emotional disparagement that students endure embarking on their post graduation journeys.

The campaign will not only educate and elevate important factors that affect enrollment but will also develop critical thinking and knowledge application needed for college research. Students will use detroitcollegematch.com and a word bank to support determining a college list.

This project is designed for both middle and high school students. Register your school today to compete for up to $800 in prizes!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
We are Grateful for You!
DCAN wishes all of you a healthy and Happy Thanksgiving!

We are grateful for your support of DCAN, our mission, and the students we all serve together. We know you all work hard and are in need of a much deserved break.

Catch up with family, binge watch that show, take a few naps, run a turkey trot (if that's your thing), and return to work next week ready to push our students through to the winter break.
