DCAN Update | May 8, 2020
Challenge accepted.
Dear Colleagues:

This week we're celebrating the winners of the Get Schooled Detroit College Challenge . These schools, teachers, college advisors, college transition advisors - and of course - students have worked so hard this year and we're here to give them a virtual high five.

The 2019-2020 Detroit College Challenge was a partnership between Get Schooled and DCAN, supporting 23 Detroit-area high schools focused on improving FAFSA completion and college-going rates.

Using Get Schooled’s website and text line to find resources and help for college applications and financial aid questions, schools with the most active students and high FAFSA completion rates were able to earn cash grants.

In the following sections, you'll hear from the winners and learn how you can participate next year.

In celebration,

Dr. Ashley Johnson
Executive Director, DCAN
DETROIT GETS IT DONE
Over the course of the Detroit College Challenge, we saw amazing engagement and student excitement.

There were more than  7,700 visits to the Get Schooled website.  More than  2,800 students  across 23 Detroit high schools created accounts and participated in the challenge. We saw an astounding  126,597 total views  of the challenge website resources, and  a 4% average improvement in FAFSA completion  rates amongst the schools who participated in the Detroit College Challenge, while some schools saw as much as a  27% improvement!

Way to go, Detroit!
