Introducing Onjila Odeneal
Onjila Odeneal has officially been announced as DCAN's Interim Executive Director. She earned her Bachelors' degrees from the University of Detroit Mercy in Political Science/Legal Administration and Business Administration. She continued her studies receiving a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology with a focus on student development at Wayne State University.

Prior to her work at DCAN, Onjila worked in higher education financial aid at public and private institutions for 8 years; she served as an education consultant/program developer for secondary schools and nonprofits and spent several years in various roles at nonprofits focused on education and community development.

Born, raised, and educated in Detroit as a low-income, 1st generation student, Onjila has a deep passion to ensure that kids with backgrounds similar to her own are equipped to be successful in the endeavors that they face.

Many of you work with Onjila personally and we are beyond confident in her new role as DCAN's leader.
We will be supporting students with pathways to college this summer with a focus on the class of 2021. There is a team to support them no matter their pathway.

We are offering free 1-on-1 advising for students who are transitioning to college in the fall. Please share this sign up link with students and parents.
