DETROIT SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM
The Detroit Summer Scholars Summer Bridge Program provides an opportunity for a select group of Detroit high school seniors from the class of 2022 to get a jumpstart on their college career and ensure that all necessary steps are completed for successful enrollment.

The Summer Bridge application opens March 1, 2022 and the deadline to apply is April 1, 2022. There are no GPA, test score, or letter of recommendation requirements. This program comes at absolutely no cost to students.
COLLEGE FIT PROJECT
Earn Prizes Today!
The College “Fit” Project is a one-page college research worksheet that will help you determine the best colleges based on your needs culturally, socially, and academically. This simple tool helps you select what's important to you, ensure that your schools have these things but also provides a list of schools that best "fit" your chances of being accepted and graduating!

DCAN will award prizes to students that complete the worksheet!
Submit your list from the worksheet (Step 3: 4 match, 4 reach, 4 safety schools) to be entered to win a $25 amazon gift card drawn every two weeks!

There are plenty of jobs right now that we don't even know exist! This section of the newsletter highlights lesser known areas of study and what jobs you can get with them.

Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Naval architecture studies science and engineering of designing and manufacturing of sea-going vessels such as ships, yachts, powerboats, fishing boats, barges, and more. The average salary for a naval architect is $99,000/year.
Community and Global Public Health
Public health encompasses many fields of study, including infectious and chronic disease, nutrition, environmental hazards, public policy, global health issues, and more. The average salary in these professions is $75,000/year.

MACOMB COMMUNITY COLLEGES
Land Surveying
This program studies the surveying principles and techniques used in the construction of buildings, subdivisions, utilities, roadways, and other public and private developments. The average salary for this type of position is $46,00/year.
IT & Cybersecurity
This program focuses on cybersecurity issues, techniques, and policy as related to computer and information systems. You will learn how to establish a layered defense against cybersecurity threat. The average salary is $104,000/year.
PAYING FOR COLLEGE
Math 4 Success 2022 Senior Scholarship
Math 4 Success is proud to offer its first $500 scholarship to graduating high school seniors. Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale and plan to attend a college or university in the fall of 2022.
Automotive Hall of Fame Scholarship
Submit a completed application form indicating a sincere interest in an automotive career. The program has specific scholarships for incoming freshmen and upper-level undergraduate students. All of the scholarships are based on financial needs and with the usual minimum GPA requirement of 3.0.
A Daring Path Scholarship
This scholarship is for student ages 14+ and attending school in the US. All GPAs will be considered. All majors are encouraged to apply.

Racquet Up
Racquet Up Detroit is an out-of-school program focused on helping you succeed in life. While here, you will spend your time learning how to play squash, working on homework, and engaging in enriching activities.

Never heard of squash? Don't worry! We have amazing coaches who will teach you how to play!
Challenge Detroit Fellows
The Challenge Detroit Fellowship program is a year-long, full-time job opportunity with a host company to gain experience in multiple areas of impact while contributing to Detroit’s vibrant communities.
