SKILLED TRADE ENROLLMENT DAY
For Students Interested in a Skilled Trade Pathway

DCAN is holding its 1st ever Skilled Trade Enrollment Day on May 27th, 2021!

This event is for high school seniors that have applied to the list of partnered trade programs. Students will receive support on next steps in the enrollment process.

Our team will highlight and provide the application for trade programs from our identified partners. The highlighted programs are 2-4 months long and with successful completion, students will be equipped with the knowledge and credentials to gain employment in those fields. Students will also be connected to employers for opportunities to secure a job. One of the programs, DTE Tree Trimming Apprenticeship, offers students the opportunity to earn as they learn.

The virtual event is meant to support seniors who have applied to connect with program reps to ensure they know what steps they need to take to successfully start their intended program.

Enrollment Day is NOT meant to introduce or expose students to the skilled trades. Our hope is to improve successful enrollment. This includes assisting students with understanding and completing the next steps by connecting them with program reps. Students will have the opportunity to schedule placement exams, learn about course layout, program expectations, uniform needs, completing final paperwork, etc and start a relationship with their reps in the event any additional support is needed in the future.

All Detroit high schools and student-facing organizations who complete our RSVP form will receive more information about the highlighted programs, links to applications, and will receive flyers to share with students to boost application submission.
