DCAN STRATEGY INSTITUTE A SUCCESS!

Strategy resources now available

Many of you are returning to school this week, in many different forms. DCAN has your back as we all figure out how to navigate these particular waters. Be sure you're tuned into social media and check out our weekly newsletter - now going out on Tuesdays - for news, resources and all the things you need to help your students earn a college degree.

August 11 through 13, DCAN launched our first ever Strategy Institute, geared toward Detroit student support pros, it was an opportunity to hear from a diversity of speakers and develop plans, ideas, systems and programming for the upcoming year.

MCAN & NCAN UPDATES

Happy 10th birthday, MCAN!

Ten years ago, Michigan College Access Network officially opened its doors under the extraordinary leadership and vision of Brandy Johnson, who has since left to serve as the policy advisor for education & workforce for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. MCAN was founded to lead a bold and coordinated strategy for Michigan to increase postsecondary attainment and close gaps for first-generation college-going students, low-income students, and students of color. Since MCAN’s inception, Michigan’s postsecondary attainment rate has increased nearly 10 percentage points, from 35.6% to 45.5%.

School Counselor Fellows Program

Michigan College Access Network and San Diego State University’s Center for Equity and Postsecondary Attainment are excited to launch the Inaugural School Counselor Fellows Program! This program will provide ongoing mentorship and training rooted in leadership and advocacy development for a small, select group of school counselors.

NCAN 2020 National Conference: Marching Toward Equity
