COVID-19 Vaccine Overview
DCBDD continues to work closely with the Delaware General Health Department to coordinate vaccines for the people we serve and their direct support professionals. Vaccines are being distributed based upon the priority groups set forth by Governor DeWine.

We are excited to share that many of the people in the priority group 1A and their providers have begun to receive the COVID-19 vaccine!

Our focus will shift to those individuals who qualify for the vaccine in priority group 1B. As defined by the Governor, this includes people with a developmental disability and one of the following conditions:

  • Inherited Metabolic Disorders (including phenylketonuria);
  • Severe Neurological Disorders (including epilepsy, hydrocephaly, and microcephaly);
  • Severe Genetic Disorders (including Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Turner syndrome, and muscular dystrophy);
  • Severe Lung Disease (including cystic fibrosis and severe asthma requiring hospitalization within the past year);

If you or your loved one is included in priority group 1B, you will receive a call from your Service and Support Administrator (SSA) to coordinate the scheduling of the vaccine when it is ready.

If you or your loved one is not included in either priority group 1A or 1B, your SSA will notify you as soon as we have information that pertains to your priority group.

We thank you all for your patience as we work through this process together. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your DCBDD contact.
