Is YOUR Local Unit in Good Standing?
Of 130 PTAs in Duval County:
ONLY 69 are in Good Standing! Which means there are 61 units that have 1, 2 or 3 strikes.
YEAH! There are only 2 local units that have not filed their 990 form with the IRS. (See column to the right if you haven't filed yet.)
DCCPTA is here to help, but Local Units must ensure the proper paperwork is being done to keep your PTA in Good Standing.
Failing to do so could result in your PTA being closed.
See link below to connect to the Good Standing Requirements on our website.

Taxes were due November 15!

- $50,000 to $200,000 file Form 990EZ and Schedule A and G.
- Over $200,000 file Form 990.
- Forward a copy to tax@floridapta.org and treasurer@dccpta.org

Health & Safety News
Texting and Driving:
Find a great article on the National PTA website about how to talk to your teen driver about this important subject, and advice on how to create a safe driving contract with your teen
HERE.
Tobacco Free Coalition of Jacksonville
DCCPTA is a partner with TFCJ, sharing information and strategies to keep our students away from tobacco in ALL forms. Currently we are performing smartphone surveys of retail stores, collecting data on how e-cigarettes and other forms of tobacco are marketed and sold. High School Students who need Volunteer hours can help perform these surveys! Training is available.
Also, TFCJ can help your PTA establish a SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) team at your school. Elementary and Middle school is NOT too early to start one of these teams! E-cig use is on the rise among tweens and young teens and there is data that shows e-cigs are a "gateway" to regular cigarettes for those that try them.
