Dear DCI School Community,
Happy June and Happy Pride, DCI!
This year, Washington, DC has the incredible honor of hosting World Pride, which means the Capital Pride Parade on Saturday, June 7th will be bigger, longer, and more fabulous than ever! And for the first time, DCI will have a float in the parade! We’re super excited to be part of this historic moment and hope you’ll join us in the celebration. Interested in helping out? Our final float build day is tomorrow, and we’d love more hands! For more information, please reach out to Ms. Meghan Monroe or click here.
As Pride Month kicks off across the city, we’re also celebrating right here at DCI—recognizing the talent, growth, and hard work of our incredible students. Just last week, our MYP students presented a truly outstanding showcase of their work, and we couldn’t be prouder. And, tonight our MYP Spring Arts Showcase proved to be just as impressive.
And as we move into the final stretch of the school year—with just under two weeks to go—we’re also getting ready for some of our most meaningful traditions. On June 10th, we’ll officially welcome our newest Dragons during Dragon Induction. The next day, June 11th, we’ll cheer on our seniors as they turn their tassels at graduation. And on June 13th, we’ll celebrate our 8th graders as they take the exciting step up to high school.
From Pride to performances to promotions, this month is packed with moments of joy, recognition and transition. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Shout Outs!
Please consider submitting a “shout out” to recognize your students’ teachers and staff. These will be included in each bi-weekly edition of the Dispatch. Your name will be associated with each shout out, or you can choose to shout out anonymously. Thanks!
Student Spotlights
With award season upon us, here are a few recent student achievements worth sharing and celebrating:
Celebrating Our Students' Success at the U.S. Chinese Bridge Competition
Leo Stevenson-Gasol, an 8th grader, recently won First Place in the Regional U.S. Chinese Bridge Competition. Leo’s sibling, Lloyd Stevenson-Gasol, a 6th grader, also achieved an impressive accomplishment, earning Third Place in the same competition at the secondary school level. Congrats!
