Dear DCI School Community,

We did it, DCI! 🎉 It’s hard to believe, but here we are—at the finish line of another incredible school year! 🎓✨ From the first day to IB exams, performances, athletic competitions and celebrations, this year has been full of impactful learning and unforgettable moments.

Whether you’re heading into summer break ready to relax, travel, work or all of the above, we hope you take time to reflect on everything we’ve accomplished together. Our Dragons have soared this year, and it’s all thanks to the amazing energy, care, and collaboration of our entire community. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: The Dispatch will go on hiatus during the summer, but we will be back closer to the start of SY25-26. Enjoy your summer and we’ll see you in August!

Student Spotlights

DCI 10th graders investigated a chosen neighborhood through a month-long process and produced a policy brief revealing a modern problem caused by a historical event/phenomenon. The competitors engaged with the panelists in a Q &A session to acquire real-world skills. This year's panelists included Maria Crupi from 826 DC and Rhonda Henderson from Surge Institute. 

Here are the winners:

• 2nd Place = Lily Friley Urban Renewal Program
• 3rd Place = Kevin Alvarez Racially Restrictive Covenants
• Judge’s Choice = Roxanne Rosenwasser DC’s Statehood

Four Dragon Films Filmmakers Landed the Sitar Arts' Bloomberg Arts Internship for This Summer!

Congratulations to 11th graders Marley Flannery, Amali Brown and Elliot Zwirn-William who will intern at The Fearless Artist, and Adam Bernal, who will intern at The O Museum. Over the course of the summer, they will engage in workshops, learn industry arts business skills, and help organize community experiences! Way to go!

With schools across the city facing a tighter budget outlook this year, we’re leaning into what makes DCI strong: our community. Let’s make sure our teachers come back to stocked classrooms after summer break!

Come Join DCI’s Summer Camp in July!

Are you looking for a language camp to help your child practice their Chinese, French or Spanish? Are you interested in Chess, Cheer or role playing game (RPG) camp? Sign up by July 7th for DCI’s Summer Programs running July 14-25 for rising 6th through 9th graders! For more information and how to register, visit our Summer at DCI webpage. Campers do not have to be enrolled at DCI to participate so help spread the word!

Consider Becoming a Voyager Host Family for the 25-26 School Year!

Next fall, as part of our Voyager Exchange Program, DCI will be hosting four different groups of students from our partner schools around the world. If you are interested and able to host a student from Spain, France or Taiwan next fall, please fill out this sign up form. While most visiting students will be hosted by a DCI high schooler who will travel abroad later in the school year, we typically have a need for a few supplemental host families. Summer Virtual Family Information Sessions on ACE and Athletics

Join us for two virtual sessions to learn more about DCI’s ACE programs and Athletics offerings! Whether your student is interested in joining a club, playing a sport, or getting involved after school, these sessions are a great opportunity to hear directly from staff, ask questions, and find out how to support your child’s interests.
