Professional Questions

What unique skills or expertise do you bring to the table that benefit the DCI team?

Versatility and Receptiveness.

We work in an ever-changing industry where the only thing that is constant is change. With daily changes regarding technology, companies, regulations, and government changes, being able to pivot is a crucial skill needed to thrive in this industry. I have the pleasure of working with a lot of great people within this industry, and I always want to be able to be open to different ideas that both our stakeholders and staff bring to the table.

What drew you to this field, and how did you get started?

Growing up, at our dinner table, most of our conversations revolved around clean transportation. I remember talking about biodiesel and E85 at a specific meal over 20 years ago! Some of my fondest memories were going to racing events and car shows with my family. Both of my grandfathers worked at BP and regional Steel Mills, and I have always felt that heavy-horsepower engines were always in my DNA.

The only thing better than a brand-new garbage truck being delivered is a new baby! I ventured out to start on my own path after college, but in 2016, I moved back to Indiana and have been loving every day since! I fundamentally think that all Americans want clean air, clean water, and for the next generation to prosper. I believe that the work we do serves these priorities.

What recent work accomplishment has you feeling energized?

Our GOEVIN infrastructure projects, CNG projects, and Lake and Porter County ZEV projects. With the recent changes going on in the EV world, our GOEVIN Infrastructure projects (18 DCFC and 18 Level 2 Charging Stations) are great opportunities to deploy publicly accessible charging stations across Indiana!

We have a couple of CNG/RNG projects that I have been working on for the last couple of years. These projects are starting to come online, and it’s a huge opportunity to deploy the cleanest forms of transportation in Indiana.

The Lake and Porter County ZEV projects are helping local communities deploy EVs to demonstrate the operational and behavioral changes of switching to a cleaner fuel. Both of these projects will help create and provide future adoption for not only cleaner fuels for Indiana, but will also help individuals realize that there are monetary and operational benefits from these deployments!

What is your favorite aspect of our company culture?

Every day is different/exciting, and there are changes. From the members, stakeholders, and board members of our coalition, DCI feels like a family! We have great relationships with everyone we work with and have a great history of projects/deployments. I’m proud of the work that we have accomplished, but I’m even more excited for what’s to come in the future!

Personal Questions

What's your FAVORITE movie or TV show that you would recommend?

My all-time favorite movie is Tommy Boy with Chris Farley. I named my dog Callahan because of that movie.

How would you describe your ideal weekend?

Spending time with my wife and two and four-year-old boys doing some activity.

What's your favorite quote?

“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.” – John Wooden, Purdue Alum

What's a fun fact about yourself that most people wouldn't know?

I live what I preach when it comes to my personal life – with EVs and E85 for my family’s personal car.

I’m really into composting/vermicomposting, and I have about 50,000 worms in my herd that eat organic materials and waste paper collected.

October Highlighted Fuel

Electricity can be used to power all-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles directly from the power grid. Vehicles running on electricity produce no tailpipe emissions. The only emissions that can be attributed to electric vehicles are those generated in the production process at the power plant. The electric grid is an easily accessible driving energy.

Electricity used to power vehicles is generally provided by the electricity grid and stored in the vehicle’s batteries. Fuel cells are being explored as a way to use electricity generated on board the vehicle to power electric motors. Unlike batteries, fuel cells convert chemical energy from hydrogen into electricity. Home recharging of electric vehicles (EVs) is as simple as plugging them into an electric outlet. Electricity fueling costs for electric vehicles are reasonable compared to gasoline, especially if consumers take advantage of off-peak rates.
