A Message from the Executive Director
Greetings,

It is hard to believe the 2020-2021 school year is upon us. It is certainly not the year we may have expected, but DCIU administrators and educators have been preparing all summer to provide the best possible service and experience to our students, families, and clients as we come together to start a new year. Staff have been innovative and flexible as the fluidity of our environment presents constant challenges and I am so appreciative of their efforts. As we return to our buildings and programs, remember that we are all in this together and we remain DCIU strong.

Maria Edelberg, Ed.D.
Executive Director, DCIU
OPTIONS Students Reopen Thrift Shop on the Avenue

Students in the DCIU OPTIONS program spent their summer days working hard to reopen the Thrift Shop on the Avenue in Lansdowne. The store opened for business on July 14 and kicked off their reopening with promotions like their sidewalk sale and Christmas in July sale. Students prepared by setting up window displays and ensuring a safe environment for customers with signs and hand sanitizer to promote social distancing and cleanliness.
DCIU Hosts Baby Item Pick-Up

On July 31, DCIU assisted the Delaware County Council and Department of Human Services with hosting a free Baby Item Pick-up for families in need of baby supplies. Items available included diapers, wipes, bottles, and more baby essentials. Parents were thankful that these free supplies were being provided as families continue to struggle during the COVID-19 crisis. Volunteers from Delaware County government, DCIU, Delco Citizens Corps, and Delco Emergency Services helped run the successful event.
Staff Shout Outs!

"I just wanted to let you both know what a stellar job Barb Hewes and Krista Bussone are doing on our record review diagnostic team. Barb and I have been working together since September, 2019 and Krista joined us this summer. They are both thoughtful, dedicated, and timely. They write clear, thorough reports that are done quickly and truly make my life easier!!! They ask great questions of families and explain things clearly and concisely. I honestly look forward to working with them and thought you all should know what a pleasure it is to have them on my team."
