SPRING PERFORMANCE UPDATE
All DCM dancers registered for Winter and Spring sessions were invited to perform in the Ballet Chesapeake Spring Production featuring Carnival of the Animals and Paquita.

Tickets:
Don't forget to purchase your tickets for the performance! You can purchase tickets online or in person at the DCM office during office hours. Either way, you can pick your own seat. Ticket prices range from $19, $22, $25 for purchase before the day of the show.

Performance and Rehearsal Schedule:
Performances will be held at Bel Air High School on Saturday, June 8th at 6pm and Sunday, June 9th at 1pm. Please see the form below to check which performance your dancer will be in.

A detailed production week schedule is available below. All rehearsals listed are mandatory for the performance. Please check your schedule and save these dates!


Class Costume Requirements:
You can purchase everything you need for the performance on site at the DCM Boutique. Please see the information below about what each class will need for the performance along with a performance packing checklist. Also included is an order form to purchase these items from the Boutique.

Volunteering:
Volunteers are still needed! If you are interested in volunteering to help with costumes, sets, props, or ushering at the performance, please contact us!
Casting:
  • Pre-Ballet, Ballet 1-2x, Elem./Int. Ballet, and NHSDA classes will be dancing in "Carnival of the Animals". Please check with your child's instructor to see which animal your dancer will be!
  • Ballet 3/4 and 5/6 classes will be dancing in the classical ballet, "Paquita". Ballet 3/4 will perform the Mazurka, and Ballet 5/6 will be part of the corps de ballet.
  • Jazz, Tap, Modern, Hip Hop, and NHSDA classes will be dancing in the Mixed Bill. Each class will present a piece choreographed by the instructor.

Cast T-Shirt Orders:
Don't forget to purchase a cast t-shirt for your dancer! Please fill out the form below and return it to the DCM office by SATURDAY, MAY 11TH!
SAVE THE DATE FOR PICTURE DAY!
Details:
We have partnered with Boston Dance Photography to provide a recital photo shoot for our dancers. All dancers are invited and encouraged to participate in our upcoming Picture Day, whether they are performing in the Spring Production or not.

When:
Sunday, June 2nd from 11:00am-5:00pm

Attire:
All dancers should arrive with performance ready hair and makeup done. Please bring all costumes, costume pieces, and dancewear that you wish to be photographed in.

Sign Up Information:
Each dancer must sign up in the link below to attend Picture Day. If you want to be photographed in more than one costume or dancewear, you must sign up for more than one time slot. (Example: If you sign up for one time slot, you will be photographed in one costume or dancewear. If you sign up for two time slots, you will be photographed in two costumes or dancewear, etc.) If you choose to be photographed in more than one costume, make sure your time slots are at DIFFERENT TIMES so you have time to change. Each time slot requires a separate order form. Order forms are available to the left and at the studio.

NHSDA Induction:

NHSDA families, friends and dancers are invited to our annual induction ceremony this Friday, May 3rd at 7:30pm in Studio C down the hill.

Light refreshments will be provided, and we will celebrate the accomplishments of these wonderful dancers.

Travelling Tutus:

Thanks to all of our volunteers who helped clean out our costume closet, we were able to fill all of the below boxes with costumes to donate to Traveling Tutus! If you have dance costumes you no longer need, please consider donating to this organization, which donates dance costumes to children all around the world! All costumes can be dropped off at the studio.

Best of MD Arts Education Festival:

We are so proud of our dancers who performed at the 2nd Annual Best of Maryland Arts Education Festival on Friday, April 26th! First Lady Yumi Hogan attended the festival which celebrates young artists and their teachers in all five arts disciplines across the state!
NHSDA KENNEDY CENTER FIELD TRIP
NHSDA dancers attended the New York City Ballet: Works by Reisen, Balanchine & Robbins  at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on April 7th. Before the performance, dancers were given a tour of The Kennedy Center, which highlighted the historic events that led up to the establishment of the national cultural center. The tour also included information about the works of art given to the Center. After the performance, our dancers had a Meet and Greet with NYCB Dancers!
SUMMER DANCE!
DCM offers summer dance programs for students of every age. Classes are
offered in young children's programs, ballet, jazz, and modern. It is strongly recommended that ballet students attend summer classes in order to continue
their training and prepare for Fall classes. Join us for a summer full of dance! Summer registration is open now!

Musical Theater Camp
DCM is excited to announce that we will be holding our first ever Musical Theater camp this summer! Students will learn and perform the musical Aladdin!

We will be hosting guest voice instructor, Elizabeth Holmes. Mrs. Holmes performed opera and musical theater professionally in the Philadelphia area and she is currently a doctoral fellow teaching at Shenandoah University.

Musical Theater Camp is open to ages 7 and up and will be held from July 22-27 with a performance on the last day.
Disney Dance Camps
Dancers ages 3-6 can participate in our Disney Dance Camp held weekday mornings August 5-23.

M onday-Friday 9am-12pm
Choose one, two, or three of the following sessions.
Cost: $185 per session

Session 1: August 5-9
Session 2: August 12-16
Session 3: August 19-23

Each week will have a different theme that includes story time, an informal performance for parents and friends and a chance to meet story book characters.

July Evening Classes
Dancers in Elementary through Advanced and Ballet 1-6 levels can participate in Summer Session evening classes in ballet, modern, and jazz. Evening Classes will be held Monday-Friday from 5:00pm - 7:30pm July 8-26.

One Class:
$300 for 3 weeks, $100/week, $20/evening

Two Classes:
$600 for 3 weeks, $200/week, $40/evening
Ballet Chesapeake
August Workshop
I ntermediate and Advanced dancers ages 10 and up can participate in the Ballet Chesapeake August Workshop held Weekday evenings August 12-30 from 4:30-7:30pm.

(Ages 10-Adult with Director approval or placement class.)

Choose one, two, or all three weeks.
Cost (for non BC members): $750 for all three weeks, $250/week, $50/day

Summer Drop In Classes

intermediate/Advanced Students and dancers in Ballet levels 3-6 are invited to participate in drop in classes over the summer when DCM classes aren't in session. All classes are $15 per class, and dancers should sign up at least 24 hours before class time. Drop-in classes will be held from June 11th - July 5th. Class times will be announced soon!
THE DANCE CONSERVATORY OF MARYLAND IS MOVING
We are gearing up for the move to our new location at 7437 Merchant Boulevard, Abingdon, which is located in the Boulevard at Boxhill Shopping Center! The new location will feature over 6,400 square feet of space including offices, lobby/waiting areas, dressing rooms, and The Boutique at DCM, as well as four brand new dance studios that are larger than our current studios!

Fall Schedule and Registration

We hope that you will be able to join us in this new space opening on September 9th for the first week of the DCM Fall Session. We will be sending an email out to all families on June 12th which will include the Fall schedule, registration materials, and class placement recommendations for Fall 2019.

Come visit us during Boutique hours or fill out an order form and email/return it to the office. We can pack everything your dancer needs in your own garment bag so that you are ready to go for the performance!

NATHAN STRONG LEMONADE DAY
Our very own Kait Weber is holding a fundraiser to help Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation move one step closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer! You can participate by helping plan the event, attending the event, or making a donation!

The money you donate will pay for research to find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer. Donations to Alex's Lemonade are tax deductible. Please help kids and their families by providing desperately needed hope! Details for the fundraiser are below. Thanks for your support!
