Sermon: Servant Leadership in the Age of 140 Characters

The guest preacher on Sunday is Dr. Samuel L. Adams, our first Theologian in Residence, a program made possible by the grant for campus ministry DCPC received from Union Presbyterian Seminary and the D. Thomason Fund. Dr. Adams graduated from Davidson College and has also earned a Master of Divinity from the University of Chicago Divinity School and a Ph.D. from Yale University. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), he has served congregations in New Haven, CT, Chicago, IL, and Richmond, VA. He is a Professor of Old Testament at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA. In his sermon, Dr. Adams will focus on Christian service and discipleship and the difficulty of humble leadership in a culture that encourages grandeur.

The Geneva Choir will sing Call to Remembrance at the 8:30 service.

The Chancel Choir, with Christina Tarry, soprano will sing Be Thou My Vision at the 11:00 service.

The congregation will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism  at the 9:45 a.m. service with Cor y Krasel and children Scarlett Marie Jennings, born May 20, 2008, and Violett Von Krasel, born February 12, 2010, and the children of Robert and Sara Brown, Sophie Madeleine Brown, born June 22, 2012 and Daniel Ryan Brown,
