Using eCW DIRECT for Health Information Exchange

Training Overview: Through Direct, one can send and receive referrals electronically (e-referrals), and exchange summary of care (CCD) information electronically including problem lists, allergies and medications. Direct protocols allows for greater interoperability across all certified EHR vendor products and healthcare organizations for the secure exchange of authenticated personal health information. Providers with Direct addresses aid with the necessary compliance for Meaningful Use requirements of the secure exchange of clinical data.

In this webinar, participants will learn about using eCW Direct to exchange health information.The presentation will include an introduction to the use of Direct in the District, an overview of the functionalities of Direct, and a demonstration of key workflows and processes to send, receive, and reconcile information seamlessly into the EHR. Harm Reduction Approaches in Behavioral Health

Training Overview : DCPCA ECP Finalization Workshops represent the home stretch of the project. Like the other workshops in the series, the workshop is a hands-on session crafted to assist each facility in the finalization of its CMS-compliant ECP. Prior to the Finalization Workshop, your BOLD planning Project Manager will have conducted a thorough review and grading of the individual elements of your plan.  Each facility should have used that review to correct errors, fill in gaps, and complete their plan as much as possible prior to the Plan Finalization Workshop.  At the conclusion of the DCPCA ECP Finalization Workshops, all plan elements will have been completed and a straightforward, succinct action plan will be established for the finishing touches.

We will apply the concepts learned to real-life case studies through hands-on group exercises.

Training Overview:   Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based communication style which aims to help providers engage patients in conversations about behavior change.  Motivational Interviewing challenges the practitioner to suspend his/her drive to direct, advise, and confront. This workshop is ideal for anyone who performs direct patient care, and who frequently engage in conversations with patients about changing their behavior (managing diabetes, quitting smoking, reducing alcohol use, adhering to medication as prescribed, etc.). Decades of research have demonstrated the effectiveness of MI as an evidence-based intervention to compassionately guide the behavior-change process. Join this workshop to learn practical MI tools that can support day-to-day patient care.

NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH) Training
Tuesday - Thursday, July 14 -16, 2020

Training Overview:   This 2.5-day intensive will give participants essential knowledge and skills to support new PCMH 2017 standards and earn NCQA PCMH “Certified Content Expert” designation. For those who do not intend to pursue certification, the training is extremely valuable for implementing PCMH, earning PCMH 2017 recognition and sustaining PCMH status through annual reporting.   This training is being offered to DCPCA, MACHC and WVPCA members at a greatly-reduced cost of only $200 per person. Training components:

Introduction to PCMH Program: Foundational Concepts of the Medical Home: an in-depth guide to NCQA PCMH requirements and the process for achieving PCMH Recognition. The model emphasizes a practice-wide commitment to transformation by demonstrating key features such as population health management, care coordination and continuous quality improvement.

NCQA’s Advanced PCMH Program: Mastering the Medical Home Transformation: an advanced course is intended for individuals who have applied NCQA PCMH Recognition requirements in the practice setting. It examines the PCMH standards and the assessment process. Participants will take a deeper dive to each PCMH Concept and explore the key characteristics of a successful medical home in this hands-on program.

Helping Your Clients Quit Tobacco

Training Overview: DCPCA is offering a tobacco cessation training in partnership with BreatheDC and DC Health that is designed to equip health care professionals with evidence-based skills to treat and care for patients with tobacco dependence.

PrEP Detailing Kit Train-the-Trainer Opportunity

Training Overview: Pre-exposure prophylaxis, also called PrEP, refers to the daily use of antiretroviral medication by people who are HIV-uninfected but at risk of infection, in order to prevent HIV acquisition . The Fenway Institute is offering free training sessions covering basics and case scenarios for PrEP and empowering clinicians to train their teams on how to use the PrEP Detailing Kit to make fast and well-informed decisions about PrEP management and care.
