DC NEXT (Network for Expectant and Parenting Teens) Meeting

  • Details: The DC Network for Expectant and Parenting Teens (DC NEXT!) will launch it's HEAL Lab on March 30th. The Launch involves presentations of all findings of the human-centered design research in specific domains, combined with relevant research, data, and engagement activities that create shared learning to guide the design process. The HEAL Lab Launch meeting results in three design teams in our priority domains of Continuum of Care, School-based Services, and Sexual and Reproductive Health, each with at least one innovation design to further develop, test, refine, and evaluate.

eCW New Medical Assistant Training

Training Overview: This training session is intended for Medical Assistants. Participants will learn additional tools in the progress note that help document the note more efficiently in-browser version of eCW. After this training, you will have a better understanding of the Office Visit Screen and how to document in different sections of the progress note. This includes how to document the note by using templates, order sets, Right Chart Panel, and eHX/CRISP. Participants will learn the basics of the patient portal, referral, orders, alerts, telephone encounters, actions, and the various components of scheduling appointments and web-enabling patients.

Quality Improvement (QI) Boot Camp Training

Training Overview: The Quality Improvement (QI) Boot Camp is geared towards any health center staff that support quality improvement, including both clinical and administrative staff. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and practice key QI principles including the Model for Improvement, PDSA process, SMART goals, Root Cause Analysis, process flow diagrams, and quality measures. We will apply the concepts learned to real-life case studies through hands-on group exercises.

Who Should Attend: Any health center staff members that support quality improvement, including both clinical and administrative staff; members of QI teams.


Mental Health First Aid Training


Training Description: Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

Mental Health First Aid is for everyone. People whose occupations have a high level of daily interaction with the public, such as first responders, nurses, teachers, and police officers, and health care workers, have found the course very valuable. DCPCA encourages staff with patient-facing roles to participate.

Facilitator: Lynn Hennighausen, MS, is a National Trainer for Mental Health First Aid known for her dynamic, interactive style

Registration: Free for staff of DCPCA member health centers. Register for one of four virtual classes below. Please note this is a two-part training: a 2-hour self-paced pre-work session and a 5.5-hour live videoconference session.

Michael Royster, MD, MPH, FACPH, is a Senior Vice President at the Institute for Public Health Innovation. He provides leadership in the organizational, programmatic, and operational development of the Institute. Royster has established the Institute’s Richmond office and is expanding and developing initiatives to support public health priorities across Virginia and beyond. He provides expertise and oversight for programs including Health in All Policies; healthy and equitable communities training and technical assistance; community health worker development; and community health improvement planning.
