Now that the program year is about to be in full swing, we want to highlight DCR’s VACS video series designed to help SWCDs promote the program.

The series includes 17 videos (see full YouTube playlist) that showcase both the conservation practices available through the program and the farmers who are putting those practices in action across the state. Five videos focus specifically on agricultural BMPs and their benefits, while the other videos feature producers sharing their experiences implementing conservation practices on their farms.

Farmers often trust information that comes from their peers. The farmer-focused videos offer authentic perspectives on conservation practices, implementation experiences and program benefits. Combined with the BMP overview videos, they provide valuable tools for educating producers and encouraging participation in cost-share opportunities.

Tips for using videos

Website: Add videos to your website’s VACS program pages. Videos can help explain practices in a clear, visual format and provide producers with convenient access to information when exploring conservation options.

Social media and newsletters: Post videos on social media platforms, include them in e-newsletters or share them through email outreach campaigns.

Events: Use the videos during producer meetings, workshops, fairs and other outreach events. They can serve as conversation starters and help illustrate the practical benefits of conservation practices before discussing local cost-share opportunities.

How to download

You can embed videos directly from YouTube videos to your webpage (see instructions). Email pcmo@dcr.virginia.gov if you would like MP4 files and we’ll add you to our Teams file sharing group.
