2016 Mac Kid DC Summer Camp & Activity Fair
Looking for fun summer camps and activities for kids? This Summer Camp & Activities Fair is a one-stop "shop" event designed to give families the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the best camps, summer activities, and more in and around Douglas County.  
 
Renew the Ranch 
Volunteers will team up to help keep Highlands Ranch beautiful, cleaning up designated park and open space areas. Groups, kids, families, and individuals are all encouraged to attend.

 

Recycle Your Bicycle
Recycle your old or unwanted bicycles and donate them to Project ReCycle between  11 am-2 pm.  Project ReCycle is a Douglas County-based non-profit organization. They take donated bicycles, spruce them up and get them into the hands of those less fortunate.

Resource Fair
If you have a child with unique needs, including Gifted and Talented, Special Education, English Language Development, Section 504 or Literacy Interventions, please join us and gain information and support resources. This resource fair will take place at Chaparral High School at 6:30 pm. 

Developmental Milestones
Each child develops at their own pace. This Parent University class helps parents to identify signs that a child might have a developmental delay and provides tips on when to contact a professional about concerns.





Use of Appropriate and Consistent Discipline
Offered as part of Life Skills Training, this class helps parents learn to communicate rules and consequences of substance abuse to their children.  Participants will be equipped with skills to respond to substance abuse related questions, analyze rules and create consequences for breaking them.  
 
Family First Aid
The initial moments of care when a family member suffers an injury or shows symptoms of an illness can make all the difference between a full recovery and long-term damage. The first responder in most situations will be yourself, your spouse, or even one of your children. SkyRidge Medical Center offers this class to educate families to be prepared for emergencies.  
Managing Transitions
Learn how to help your child manage transitions in their childhood. From changing classes to changing teachers to changing schools and changing locations. Learn tips to help ease the anxiety and allow your child to see change as a new opportunity.





Taking a Clear Stand on Drugs

Effective Communication
Effective family communication requires analysis, message management and training.  Offered as part of Life Skills Training, this class helps participants build skills to avoid misunderstandings while expressing feelings effectively.  Participants will analyze communication styles and take part in family goal setting.
Healthy Bodies & Nutrition, Body Image and Eating Disorders
Learn how to teach your teens proper nutrition and exercise to help them appreciate and take care of their bodies. Also, learn the warning signs of eating disorders and get some tips about how to communicate with your teen about media images and body distortion.
