DCSRA ACTION NEWS

EVENTS /ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE PART IN

A Call to Action                                Call our Senators!
Call Immediately!

Donald J. Trump has appointed Senator Jeff Sessions to serve as the Attorney General. Our Senators need to hear from us that we vigorously object to this appointment of Senator Sessions. Senator Sessions has demonstrated by his votes and his actions over the years that he is a racist. In 1986 the Republican Senate blocked his appointment to a federal judgeship....one of only two times a nominee has been denied by the Senate in 50 years.

If you're angry, frustrated and want to get started doing something please call the offices of Senators' Flake & McCain and talk with their staff about your objection to this appointment. Do not leave a message: talk to someone and ask about each Senator's views on this appointment and register your objection.

SAVE MEDICARE ACTION

The President-Elect and Speaker Paul Ryan have indicated they want to turn Medicare into a voucher program where we get a set amount of money and we buy our own insurance.

It is time for action to save Medicare.

The State of Public Education in Arizona
As many of you know, the state of Arizona ranks 50 th in the United States in per-student funding. Voter approval of Proposition 123 in the spring created an infusion of $3.5 billion over ten years. This amount is far below the actual amount approved by voters in another proposition in 2000, which was ignored by the legislature, even under Court order. The Arizona School Boards Association contends that such funding is still $1.2 billion a year short of that before the Great Recession.
How will K-12 education survive when schools are so underfunded?  Join us to hear from a panel of experts made up of two educators and a journalist as they discuss the state of K-12 education in Arizona.
