Developmental Disability Awareness Month
March is celebrated nationally as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This month-long event raises awareness about the importance of inclusion for people living with developmental disabilities and the barriers they often encounter in connecting with their communities.

To celebrate, we gather at the Ohio Statehouse for an Advocacy and Awareness Day. The March 12th event is sold out, but you can follow along on Facebook or watch it on the Ohio Channel.

Join us in exploring the ongoing impact we can make together during Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and beyond!

Be sure to follow @DODDOhio on Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and Instagram for more DD Awareness Month stories and resources!

The Darke County Board of Developmental Disabilities kicked off DD Awareness Month a day early on February 29 with a packed house. Local government officials including the sheriff, police chief, mayor, people served by the board, and other community members came to hear the county commissioners read a proclamation. People with disabilities also took turns reading their own plain language version of the proclamation.
