The 2020 Conference of the Global Episcopal Mission Network (GEMN) Meets in Indianapolis
April 29 - May 2, 2020

The members of the GEMN Board of Directors recently met in Indianapolis to plan the 2020 GEMN conference. The dates are April 29-May 1, and the theme is "Earthkeeping: Creation Care in Global Mission."  Executive Director Bill Kunkle said this about the organization: "GEMN is a valuable mission partner for the DDG. GEMN provides a platform for mission-minded organizations, dioceses, churches and Individuals to share their experiences and offers solid educational resources and the opportunity to network with mission leaders from across the Episcopal church and the Anglican Communion. If you have not been to a GEMN conference, I would encourage you to be a part of this network. The philosophy of the DDG has been based on mission companionship putting God's work in the community first. This allows missionaries and local communities to work hand in hand to advance sustainable projects and programs at the direction of the local church and diocese. Our processes and procedures have been enhanced by what we have learned through our affiliation with the GEMN organization and its members."    For more information on this conference from the GEMN website,  click here .

The Dominican Development Group is a member organization within GEMN, and its Executive Director, Bill Kunkle, is an elected member of the GEMN Board of Directors. In 2019, the GEMN Conference was held in the Dominican Republic at the William J. Skilton Conference Center in Boca Chica. For a report from that 2019 event, click here

Online Schedules of Mission Teams

For the past several years, the staff members of the Mission Team Coordination Office in Santo Domingo have been responsible for preparing spreadsheet lists of incoming mission teams from the United States for the current year and the following year. These lists include information on the start and ending date of a mission trip, the sponsoring church and diocese, and the location and nature of the team's projects. The communications staff of the Dominican Development Group then used those spreadsheet Excel files to transfer that schedule information into PDF format so that it could be posted online and then accessed universally. Once the PDF files have been posted, a notice that updated files are available was been added to the DDG Facebook page and the DDG website.

Now the Mission Team Coordination office has taken over the responsibility for both preparing and then posting the lists each week, usually on Monday mornings. The corresponding links are initially available on the Mission Teams page within the website of the Diocese of the Dominican Republic at

and then on the diocese's Facebook page at

That same information is then shared on the DDG's Mission Teams webpage at

and finally on its Facebook page at
