Great reading at the Piccabeen Bookshop
Our little shop is bursting at the seams with a range of good
books, and there is always new stock to choose from. The
funds generated by this shop
are crucial in supporting our
work financially. Our volunteer staff are very friendly: do drop
in to say hello and buy a book
or two.

A Big Hurrah for Our Volunteers
Icon for Save Trees message

As 2017 comes to an end, we thank all our loyal Tamborine Mountain Landcare supporters - whether you work in our regeneration sites, or volunteer in our Piccabeen Bookshop, or support our work by renewing your membership every year.

We applaud our working bee groups, who have put in another year of hard work and can feel proud of their results:
  • Manitzky Park Group, led by Caroline Edwards
  • John Dickson Conservation Park and Arboretum, led by Elizabeth Russell
  • Rosser Park, led by Gillian Blowers
  • Tuesday Team, led by Wendy Morgan and Judith Roland; this group works at all the other Landcare sites on the mountain as needed
The volunteers share a warm camaraderie, marked by good humour and a shared love of the local environment. This brings the team members back year after year to help maintain healthy ecosystems in our forests.

Planting Day at Skywalk

On 21st November the Tuesday Team hosted a community planting day at the Tamborine Mountain / Skywalk Biodiversity Corridor project. This was in accordance with the conditions specified by the Queensland Government, which is funding this new project. Two hundred and fifty trees / shrubs were planted along the corridor adjacent to the Skywalk property. The good rain that followed will give these seedlings a great start in their eventual growth to form a supportive habitat for the local denizens of the forest. The Manager of Skywalk, Nick Moore, treated the volunteers to a tasty morning tea in the Skywalk coffee shop and gave a guided tour of the tree-top walks.

A Farewell to Our Contractor
Icon for Save Trees message
We have recently farewelled and thanked our contractor, Damien Draper, of Red Belly Bushcare, who has looked after many of our sites for over eight years, to great effect. We wish him well for the future. As you walk through or drive past our various Landcare sites, you will see the results of Damien's commitment to bush regeneration. Whether building tracks, bridges, picnic tables or doing the hard slog of lantana clearing and maintenance work, Damien has been an excellent contractor. Thanks, Damien.
... And a Welcome to Another Contractor

Guy Cooper will continue Damien Draper's work with us. Guy has already established himself in the Scenic Rim region as a well-respected contractor, and has been working on our new Skywalk project and also our Cedar Creek project for the past year or so. He has a small team of enthusiastic bush regenerators and will be a valued part of the Landcare family. Guy grew up on the mountain and now lives here. He also volunteers at the Manitzky Park site along with his two children.
