JOY = Santa impersonations

and HOLIDAY humiliations

and speaking of SANTA
A-PAL's Santa Paws came a little early this year. If you missed him, you'll want to mark your calendar for his next December visit in 2018. That date will be listed in the Calendar of Events in our January, 2018 issue. For the last seven years, A-PAL has had the same wonderful Santa, Dan Norton. Dan is a true professional--great beard, great smile, and the patience and expert animal handling needed to get the best poses for those memorable Christmas photos of your pets with their Santa. In his tenure at the Feed Barn, multilingual Dan has listened to the gift requests of not only dogs and cats, but bunnies, Iguanas, pigs and even snakes. The profits from Santa Paws fund the many worthy programs and services provided by A-PAL Humane Society. So, mark those 2018 calendars!

'Tis the SEASON of GIVING

We offer an option or two for sharing this season.

Amador County Animal Control & Adoption Center recommends that you give Gift Certificates covering the adoption fee of a cat or dog, instead of giving a living animal. Your "giftee" can then pick his or her own Best Friend. Remember, too, the "Seniors for Seniors" program provides year-round discounts for senior humans adopting senior dogs.

The Interfaith FOOD BANK (also on Airport Road) reports they are critically low on pet food donations this holiday. You can bring your donations directly to them, or drop them off at the drop boxes in a variety of places around town, including The Feed Barn and the shelter.

ADOPTION OUTREACH at the FEED BARN

On the second Saturday of each month, shelter volunteers stage an adoption event at the Feed Barn Country Store. The goal is to introduce to the public some of Amador County's most eligible dogs, waiting patiently at ACAC & AC for a loving home. If you are looking for a new animal pal, why not come by the Feed barn between 10:00AM and 12 noon and introduce yourselves? This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

IF YOU HAVE A GREAT ADOPTION STORY FROM OUR SHELTER,
we'd love to hear from you. Send your story, with photos if you have them, to Lisa Peterson.

Holiday safety for animals

Most of our animal companions adore turkey and other holiday treats, and we love sharing with them. But many of these foods and decorations can be dangerous to cats and dogs. Please check our LINKS for some reliable do's and dont's for you and Fido.

RED ALERT! Thinking of becoming a VOLUNTEER?
The need for volunteers  at Amador County Animal Control & Adoption Center has reached a critical level. I f you think you'd like to join our ranks, please, drop by to the shelter at 12340 Airport Road in Martell and request a volunteer application. We desperately need dog walkers, but anything you are able to do will help immensely. You can review  the  APPLICATION for VOLUNTEER WORKER   here, but you will need to fill out an original pink copy, available from
the shelter.
