23-24 IRS Filing Instructions for Texas 4-H Club/Group 990 Forms
THE DEADLINE FOR IRS FILING FOR ALL 4-H CLUBS/GROUPS IS DECEMBER 20, 2024
*If you do not complete this process – your Club EIN is subject to revocation by the IRS.
Information: ALL Texas 4-H, Inc. clubs and groups are required to file their annual information return (Form 990-N, 990 or 990-EZ). The Texas 4-H deadline for clubs filing under Texas 4-H Inc. is December 20, 2024. However, you can file NOW! Form 990 is the form used by tax-exempt organizations to provide the IRS with the information required on an annual basis. There are several Form 990s that a 4-H club/group can file, depending on their financial status. The Form 990 options are:

Form 990N (e-postcard): Gross receipts $50,000 or less.

Form 990EZ: Gross receipts less than $200,000 & total assets less than $500,000 at end of year.

Form 990: Gross receipts exceeding $200,000 at the end of the year.

2024-2025 State Level Photography Contests
NATURAL RESOURCES PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST –DOWNLOAD GUIDE
We are excited to announce the continuation of the state-level Natural Resource Photography Contest! It is open to junior, intermediate, and senior members, and categories are focused solely on the Natural Resource project areas. Here are a few key points:
- Open contest (no qualifying required) to all counties.
- Open to juniors, intermediate, and senior age divisions
- 10 Natural Resource themed categories
- Same scoring matrix and general rules as the state contest
- Entry Period: December 1 – 15, 2024 @ 11:59PM on 4HOnline & Submittable.
- No late entries accepted.

STATE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST –
DOWNLOAD GUIDE
The rules for the 2024-2025 State Photography Contest have been released (Download above). For those who may be new to Extension, the state 4-H photography contest is a senior-only qualifying contest where photos qualify directly from COUNTY to STATE. We have added 3 new categories this year, as such each County may now submit a maximum of 18 total photos (1 photo per category). As stated in the rules, counties are highly encouraged to have some type of selection process in place to determine which photos are eligible.
Key points:
- Qualify from county level (District contests have no bearing on qualifications)
- Open to senior age division only
- 15 categories (includes a new “Patriotic” theme for this year)

Winter Tractor Supply Campaigns
Information: Since 2010, Tractor Supply has partnered with 4‑H to help create Opportunity4All and raise more than $20 million through the Paper Clover campaign. 100% of funds raised through the bi-annual Paper Clover campaign directly benefits 4‑H youth. Dates for the 2024 Paper Clover Campaign are: November 29 - December 15, 2024. Tractor Supply will also be selling 4-H ornaments to decorate your tree this season! 100% of proceeds from that campaign will go back to 4-H as well. Promotional materials can be found here:

Tom Green County 4-H will host an Invitational Food Challenge contest on December 20th in San Angelo, TX. This contest is open to the first 50 paid teams.
Regular Registration: $60.00 per team (September 1 – November 15)

American Farm Bureau Convention for Youth
Save the date for the 4-H, FFA, and Jr. MANRRS Youth Leadership Program to take place Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 8:00-5:00 p.m. at the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX. This program offers learning opportunities designed for youth leaders and FREE registration for 4-H, FFA and Jr. MANRRS members (and their chaperones) to attend the AFBF Convention in San Antonio, Texas. A formal invitation will be sent once registration opens.

Texas 4-H Center Teen Retreat
Join the Texas 4-H Center in January for Teen Retreat! Teen Retreat is a fun camping experience for teens ages 14-18 who have aged out of traditional camp (ages 8-13). During the weekend, we will explore everyone's favorite camping activities from archery/riflery, high-ropes, low ropes challenge course, songs, dances, and games, and of course a campfire! Cattle and Swine Showmanship Clinic
You are invited to a 4-H Cattle & Swine Showmanship Clinic hosted by the District 3 Council Officers. This group of kiddos is beyond excited to educate 4-H members in grades 3rd-9th on daily care of these two species, showmanship techniques, leadership, and end it all with a contest. SAVE THE DATE for Sunday, December 15th @ Young County Arena in Graham | Registration Begins @ 9:00am | Clinic Begins @ 10:00 am | Showmanship Contest Begins @ 3pm. Spots will be limited to 20 head per species and spots are already halfway full! Please note, you MUST BE a registered 4-H member to attend this clinic.

24-25 Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship
Information: The Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarships are awarded each year to applicants based on their academic record, 4-H experience, and financial need (for scholarships for which it is a required criterion). The Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship Program is conducted by the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation. Over 200 academically competitive scholarships will be awarded in the 2025 Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship Program ranging in amounts from $1,000 to $30,000. No scholarship recipient whose award is based on this application process will receive less than $1,000. The Texas 4-H Foundation seeks to ensure that each recipient receives the highest dollar amount of scholarship for which that recipient is eligible. For the majority of the total scholarships and scholarship funds available, participation in a livestock show is not a requirement for consideration.

· A CEA Verification Form will require a CEA signature. The form will need to be signed/uploaded before submitting the application.
· The top-ranking scholars will be invited back for virtual interviews May 2-4 to interview for a $30,000 scholarship.
· 4-H members are encouraged to complete their FAFSA as soon as it opens on December 1st.
