Henri Nouwen once said that “when Jesus fed five thousand people with only five loaves of bread and two fish, he was showing us how God’s love can multiply the effects of our generosity (see Matt. 14:13-21). God’s kingdom is the place of abundance where every generous act overflows its original bounds and becomes part of the unbounded grace of God at work in the world (see 2 Cor. 9:10-15).”
During this season of Advent, may we not only receive from God and others with open hearts; may we also give with open hearts. For our Advent Giving Campaign, we have 4 weeks dedicated to 4 different groups and organizations. Please consider contributing to each of the following missions.
Week 1: Suds of Love: Detergent Pods
Week 2: OES & OMS: Kleenex & Black Dry Erase Markers
Week 3: Homestead: JUMBO word search books & body wash
Week 4: Christian Conference Center: Check written to FCC (in memo write “life jacket” - $25 for 1 life jacket). If giving cash, please use an offering envelope and write “life jacket” on the envelope.
During this Advent season, may we receive the hope of grace, the joy of salvation, the peace of Christ, and the love of God. May we also give back to God and God’s world, so we can experience true life and embrace the grace that we have been so richly given.
