FOR EDUCATORS, Pre-K to Grade 12

Take a crash course on all that PBS LearningMedia has to offer and kickstart your Spring Semester!

PBS LearningMedia is a FREE comprehensive media-on-demand digital content library that offers PreK-12 classrooms a flexible way to integrate media into daily instruction. In this live webinar, GPB Education training specialists introduce educators to PBS LearningMedia and highlight ways it can be used in the classroom during distance learning.

.Pre-K to Grade 2.

Sled Dog Dash Game

Use this MOLLY OF DENALI digital game to extend and expand children's use of informational text, as well as their knowledge of Alaska Native culture. As the children play, they learn about sleds, sled dogs, and the Alaskan environment, while using navigational and graphical features of informational text: diagrams, captions, tables, and electronic menus. Players also locate key details in the text to learn about dog care. The game, which takes about 20 minutes to play, is accessible for readers and non-readers alike.

.Grades 3-5.

In the related activity, students will work collaboratively to make a large mosaic using cut paper. The video and discussion will take one 45-minute class session. The related art activity may take two or more class sessions depending on the finished size.

Holidays are colorful and a great time to create collages!

Artist, Cynthia Fisher explains how discovering mosaic art inspired her to leave an artistically restrictive career as an illustrator and explore new modes of expression. Fisher demonstrates how she uses the indirect method of attaching tiles to create large-scale mosaic pieces and describes her community projects in Guatemala.
