WA Digital Navigator Funding Vetoed

From The Office of Governor Bob Ferguson: "Section 131(16), page 58, Department of Commerce, Digital Navigator Program This section provides funding to the Department of Commerce solely for grants to entities that provide digital navigator services, devices, and subscriptions. Digital navigator services are worthwhile, but I am vetoing this item because of the state’s significant fiscal challenges and funding cuts from the federal government. For this reason, I am vetoing Section 131(16)."

Preserving Digital Access to Erased Government Resources

As federal websites and data are increasingly removed or altered, it's more important than ever to know where to find archived versions. Tools like the Wayback Machine and End of Term Archive help preserve access to information that might otherwise disappear. If there's a page or dataset you rely on, consider saving it and sharing the archive link with your networks. Digital equity includes ensuring our communities can access truthful, historical records—even when they're taken offline.

Decentralization Responses to Trump Defunding Digital Inclusion by Dr. Ron Suarez

Request for job training providers - King County Housing Authority

KCHA is hosting a graduation ceremony and resource event for our graduating seniors living in public housing in Kent. The event will be on Friday, 6/20 from 5-8pm at our Birch Creek property.

In addition to celebrating graduation, we are hoping to bring in providers across the county who have information about internships, job training, college, etc. We want to bring in resources on the “next step” for these seniors so they can learn about opportunities available to them. We are also raffling off a laptop for one lucky student to use on their new adventure after high school.

Call for Volunteers - Emerald City Beacon

Emerald City Beacon is a grassroots organization aiming to connect the people of King County to resources through an online platform. We have compiled an extensive database of resources, service providers, and mutual aid efforts from a wide variety of online and physical sources.

Our platform focuses on accessibility and privacy. The organizers of Emerald City Beacon are disabled and have lived experience with homelessness and we are aiming to ensure that others do not need to experience the barriers that we have experienced.

There are many many resources available in our region, but people struggle to find or access them due to outdated systems, digital barriers, and inaccurate information.

We want to be able to say confidently that our listings are correct.

Help us help others find help!

We’re looking for volunteers to support our work through flexible, remote-friendly roles.

 You can:

  • Assist with data entry and verifying services in our resource database
  • Test our platform and provide user feedback
  • Support outreach, social media, and community events
  • Offer specialized skills in design, research, translation, writing, or technology

Time commitment: 2–4 hours per week
