Volunteer for the 2022 Bay Area Science Festival
UCSF’s Science & Health Education Partnership (SEP) is excited to announce the 2022 Bay Area Science Festival (April 21st-April 30th). With the Discovery Day event at Oracle Park held this year on Sunday, April 24.
They have a number of opportunities for scientists to be involved during the Science Festival week and at our Discovery Day event. PLEASE NOTE: we will be requiring all of our volunteers who work at in-person events to show proof of vaccination and wear masks while volunteering.
Full-time employees are eligible for up to 80 hours of paid leave (and two-week equivalent for part-time employees) for use when they cannot work due to COVID-19 related qualifying reasons through Sept. 30, 2022.
The 2022 EPSL program allows eligible employees with remaining 2021 EPSL hours to use their remaining hours in addition to the 2022 hours.
Employees who qualify for EPSL will receive their regular rate of pay when using EPSL during the 2022 EPSL period.
How Bias Against Women Persists in Female-Dominated Workplaces
"It’s been thought that once industries achieve gender balance, bias will decrease and gender gaps will close. Sometimes called the “add women and stir” approach, people tend to think that having more women present is all that’s needed to promote change. But simply adding women into a workplace does not change theorganizational structures and systems that benefit men more than women. Our new research (to be published in a forthcoming issue of Personnel Review) shows gender bias is still prevalent in gender-balanced and female-dominated industries."
