Nancy Pelosi kept insurrectionists off of the January 6th Committee, and that bipartisan group continues to do a bang up job of presenting evidence (mostly from Republicans) into the criminal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election – revealing who planned, paid for and promoted the attack on our democracy – and changing people’s minds (huge swing in Independents!) in the process. Stay tuned for more must-see episodes of this miniseries in September! I personally cannot wait (and our Slack watch parties are amazing).
Manchin and Schumer out-maneuvered McConnell with secret negotiations on the Inflation Reduction Act. Color me tickled.
PACT Act passed. CHIPs passed. Gun safety bill passed. Shout out to Kansas for making sure that their anti-abortion amendment didn't pass!

Brittney Griner's sentence has #Marijuana trending on Twitter today and the conversation about 40k Americans serving time for cannabis convictions is back on the front burner.
In a related note, the Lone Star State may be red, but Field Team 6 is planning to turn it green with our upcoming postcarding campaign! We've partnered with Ground Game Texas to reach out and register Texans who support decriminalizing pot. Although GOP support has been eking up recently, most people who favor decriminalizing weed are Democratic voters. Make a difference in the ramp-up to midterms: hop on a phone bank and join Field Team 6 as we register democrats in the important swing state of Nevada!
You’ll call eligible voters we already know are likely Dems, then get them registered as Democrats. If they're already registered (yay!) you'll help them sign up to vote from home (vote by mail). This is a super-effective way we can turn voices into votes, but we need your help! We’ll provide training, lots of good company and plenty of virtual pats on the back – plus it’s fun!

Our famous Postcarding Parties are back and better than ever—because now they're twice a week!
Yes, you can write voter registration postcards in a group... from the comfort of your kitchen table... and you can do it on Sundays and Wednesdays. That's a win-win-win-win.

Hi Social Stormers! The last week of July we had our best storming week, and now that we've totted up the numbers... it's official: we just had the best month ever in our history of Social Storming! We generated over 300 million impressions this month! Plus we had two weeks in a row with over 11,000 tweets generating over 70 million impressions each week! That's the kind of online wave-making that leads to a Blue Tsunami! So, thank you, thank you, thank you!

California’s blue (and thank God for that!) but there are several swing districts that could help determine who controls the House.We have partnered with two activist organizations to text state-wide in all of the districts where we own data. Fearless Action is a youth-led group helping to register and turn out new (and young) Democrats, and Swing Left West Valley has adopted CA-27 and is working to flip it back to blue with canvassing, phonebanking, letters/postcards and textbanking. VOLUNTEER SHOUTOUT: TAMMY REUS |
|
This week, we’re lighting the Candles of Appreciation in honor of an incredible volunteer, Tammy Reus, who has a long history of activism dating all the way back to 9/11.
She’d always been passionate about justice and fairness, but the attacks on the Twin Towers marked the true start of her activism. Appalled by Bush’s presidency, she marched against the Iraq War and then worked for the Kerry campaign in 2004. Although Kerry lost, she was lucky enough to meet him at a volunteer thank-you event. She was so inspired by the man that she rededicated herself to activism.
After volunteering on state-level campaigns and serving as a delegate to the state party convention, Tammy shifted her focus to local government issues and environmental activism. She’s now President of a nonprofit in the Bay Area, focusing on the protection of open space and wine country.
During the Obama years, her activism waned a bit. And then Trump won. “Those four years were dark, stomach-cringing times. The thought of him winning again was unacceptable.” So she went in search of volunteer opportunities and connected with Field Team 6.
“I’ve found that I am most depressed about the state of the world when I feel I have no control." Working with FT6 has given her a sense of empowerment, community and optimism that makes dealing with Trumpism tolerable for her. And because she’s involved with so many different causes, she’s short on time. With FT6, “there are opportunities to ‘customize’ your level of activism and find your sweet spot in terms of how and how much you want to help.”
Tammy has done it all, from textbanking to phonebanking to regularly proofreading the website's Volunteer Ops page and making sure the Current Storm Tweets conform. “I firmly believe that it is up to the people to make change happen and to never give up trying to achieve justice and protect our democracy. Together we can make a tremendous difference and create a country where human beings are treated compassionately.”
Tammy, we applaud your passion and longtime dedication, are grateful and honored to have your on our team, and look forward to continuing the fight for justice and democracy with you by our side.

HATCH YOUR OWN
FIELD TEAM 6 CHAPTER!
As the midterms loom, there’s no better time to assemble your peeps into a new Field Team 6 chapter, come up with a name for it, and lead them to register Democrats! ("Chapter" sound daunting? Call it a club, a justice league, a brunch bunch. If you and someone else are in it, it works for us! It's like the carpool lane!)
Your chapter can work in-person or virtually. It can draw from a geographic base (e.g. FT6 Five Points Atlanta)... an ethnic group (FT6 Chinese-Americans for Democracy)... or even an alumni pool (FT6 Notre Dame Fighting Democrats). Your community can be tiny at first. As long as you’re engaging and registering people, you’re making a difference!
Field Team 6 makes it easy-peasy to get going. We can help you create a Slack channel to communicate with your chapter members. We have a calendar of events you can join. We have training sessions to get you started phonebanking, textbanking, postcarding, and social storming. Questions? Reach out to [email protected].
Using our database of unregistered likely Democrats, Field Team 6 can set up your own phone/text banks and postcard campaigns to help you register members of your community, laying the foundation for victory in November.
