D-clearance Issuing Timeline

Our office will begin reviewing and issuing d-clearances starting

November 21, 2024

Students can start submitting dclearance requests on myviterbi through the D-Clearance request manager after their academic department webinar.

  • Our office will process d-clearance requests within 1-2 business days.
  • Once your D-clearance request has been issued, you can then register for the course via web registration. DEN sections have DEN@Viterbi under the location section. For instructions on how to register, here is the link: https://arr.usc.edu/services/registration/webregistration.html#Register
  • Check your account for HOLDS before registration

Prerequisite Waivers

  • If you request D-Clearance for a course with a prerequisite and have not completed the prerequisite requirement, Please connect with your academic department for more information.
  • Prerequisite information can be found in the University Catalogue or the Schedule of Classes.

Expired D-clearance

D-clearances are valid for 7 business days. After 7 business days, your request will expire, and registration will no longer be possible.

  • You must resubmit your d-clearance request via the D-clearance Request Manager to reinstate your course d-clearance.
  • Course availability is not guaranteed, so we encourage you to register while you have an active d-clearance.

Where can I find my registration appointment?

Students can find their registration appointment through the MyUSC portal on Web Registration. **Please note that the web registration date is an automated date added by the university. Students do not need to register by the appointment time listed on web registration.

What courses should I register for?

Students can discuss course plans and degree program requirements with their Academic Advisor from their Academic Department. https://viterbigrad.usc.edu/academic-advisement/#Dept_Advisors

Academic advisors will also email course information to all students within their academic department degree programs.

What if my Academic Advisor shared different course registration dates?

Registration dates for on-campus courses and DEN@Viterbi courses will differ.

  • On-campus course registration is managed by academic departments.
  • DEN@Viterbi course registration is managed by VGASP.
