The Department of Defense (DoD) just announced the fiscal year 2020 (FY20) Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research ( DEPSCoR) .

This funding opportunity aims to create basic research collaborations between a pair of researchers, namely 1) Applicant/Principal Investigator (PI), henceforth referred to as Applicant, a full-time faculty member who has never served as a PI on a prior DoD-funded award and 2) Collaborator/co-Principal Investigator (co-PI), henceforth referred to as Collaborator, an investigator who will provide mentorship to the Applicant and has served as a PI on a DoD-funded research award actively between 1 October 2013 and 30 September 2020. This structure is aimed at introducing potential applicants to the DoD’s unique research challenges and its supportive research ecosystem.

The Basic Research Office anticipates approximately $7.2 million in total funding will be made available for this program to fund approximately twelve (12) awards up to $600,000 (total cost) each . Each award will be funded up to $200,000 (total cost) per year for three (3) years.

STUDENT FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
CGI U launched the COVID-19 Student Action Fund on April 18, 2020 at the  C GI U At Home  virtual event hosted by President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton. This fund will support select students at universities around the world who are committed to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Working within the  CGI U Commitment to Action model , this fund will provide at least $100,000 in total funding to students, with each grant awarded ranging from $2,000-$5,000 .
 
All applications must be submitted by 11:59PM ET on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 . Students can apply at  cgiu.org/covid19fund .

  • Understand impact of COVID on communities, spectrum of disease in communities, and level of herd immunity
  • Postmortem Analysis of deceased persons with known or suspected COVID-19

Phase I/II Clinical Trials of Axitinib in the Treatment of Melanoma, Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Colorectal Cancer

The overall aim is to develop innovative studies to help determine the role of axitinib in the treatment of melanoma, HCC and CRC. It is hoped proposals submitted in response to this RFP will be useful in guiding further development of axitinib in combination with other therapies. Studies with correlative endpoints will be accepted but cannot be the primary endpoint.
