School District's New Speed Zone In Effect for Opening Day

You might want to slow it down if you’re driving past the Dobbs Ferry High School/Middle School complex once school starts! A newly designated School Speed Zone on Broadway (Route 9) will limit drivers to 20 MPH between the hours of 7:00 am-6:00 pm on school days. New speed signage will be posted to mark the specified ¼ mile stretch, about 300 feet north and south of the school property lines.
The Dobbs Ferry Police Department will be strictly enforcing the reduced speed limit.
The new speed zone in front of the High School/Middle School should help mitigate traffic accidents and make the area safer for our students and all community members who walk and bike in the area. Please be cognizant of the new speed restrictions, which go into effect the first day of school on Tuesday, September 4 th
School District introduces Innovative Classroom Initiative (ICI)
The Dobbs Ferry School District is fortunate to have a teaching staff that is open to new ideas, willing to take risks, and excited to share their success with colleagues. It is one of our strengths as a learning community. Based on that foundation, we are instituting the Dobbs Ferry Innovative Classroom Initiative (ICI) , an exciting opportunity for a cohort of teachers from across the District to join together to reflect on and rethink all aspects of their teaching in a supportive and collaborative way.

Throughout the school year, participants will engage in a variety of activities designed to challenge and push their thinking, encourage reflection, and support their growth as educators. This initiative is totally teacher-driven. Across the three schools, 27 teachers have volunteered to be part of this exciting work focused on increasing student engagement and enhancing student learning.

Congratulations and Good Luck to the Dobbs Ferry High School Class of 2018

The torch has been passed to the next generation of Dobbs Ferry students. Before graduation, seniors returned to the place where it all started- Springhurst Elementary School- to say a fond farewell before heading off to the next chapter in their lives. See what colleges and universities Dobbs Ferry graduates will be attending this fall. The list is impressive and so are our graduating students. They truly are Independent Thinkers Prepared to Change the World!

"Springhurst Compost Day 2018"

The focus of Springhurst Compost Day in June was Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Students experienced four hands-on stations to better understand how to incorporate these practices into their everyday lives at school and at home. Springhurst students are always working to reduce their waste from the cafeteria by composting and sorting their recyclable materials.
