BOE to Review and Finalize New Strategic Plan in Fall 2017
This year, we embarked on the process of updating and extending our current strategic plan. Using the
Thoughtexchange
platform we reached out to parents, teachers, students and community members resulting in an unprecedented number of stakeholders who provided their input and insights to help us prioritize the issues that are most important to our school community. Thank you for your participation. Please click to view the
"ShareYourThoughts" results/summary report
. The Strategic Planning Committee is using this feedback from the survey and working with the administration to finalize the strategic plan in early fall for a presentation to the Board of Education by November.

Summer Facilities Work Underway
Throughout the summer, we have been busy at all three schools with facilities upgrades. We will be completing the capital projects work approved by the voters back in October 2014 and expect to have the work completed by September.
This work includes:
- HVAC (air conditioning) for Springhurst
- Partial roof replacement for Springhurst
- Electrical Service upgrade for Springhurst
- HVAC (air conditioning) for the High School gymnasium
- HVAC (air conditioning) for the High School third floor
- HVAC (ventilation system) for the Middle School gymnasium
- Middle School/High School Library renovation and redesign
- Asbestos abatement work in the auditorium
These facilities upgrades will result in a significant “quality of life” improvement for students, staff and the community programs using our school buildings.

Springhurst Harvests Outdoor Garden Veggies and Lettuce for Salad Day
Springhurst students sampled fresh farm-to-table produce from their elementary school’s organic Outdoor Garden at the annual Salad Day in June. All students in grades K-5 participated and tasted the different lettuces, vegetables and herbs at multiple food stations. A first for this year -- a smoothie station featuring delicious home-grown strawberry drinks! There was also a “salad bar”, basil pesto pasta table, and a tasting station where students were encouraged to try various herb-infused olive oils (spoiler alert-garlic scape and cilantro were the mystery flavors). Thank you to all the parent volunteers and the PTSA for their support of this wonderful school-community partnership.Check out the wonderful
Salad Day Video by our own Kevin Ridley.
