IN-PERSON WORK PLAN FOR DFA STAFF BASED AT DCC

Beginning the week of Oct. 17, Division of Finance and Administration staff members on hybrid work schedules will be expected to work at the Downtown Campus Center or other UC Merced locations two days a week, according to DFA senior leadership. All staff will work in-person on Tuesdays and choose Wednesday or Thursday as the second day.

The in-person schedule applies to staff normally based at the DCC. The enactment of this schedule follows Merced County’s COVID-19 transmission level easing from High to Medium as of Sept. 22, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Face coverings in indoor spaces continue to be strongly recommended (refer to the Campus Ready site for the latest guidance).

Teams are encouraged to restrict scheduled meetings – in person or virtual – to Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Try to keep Mondays and Fridays meeting-free. Managers and supervisors must give at least 48 hours of notice for in-person meetings or events.

Please keep your Outlook calendars up to date to help the process of setting up meetings. Use the university's EMS reservation system to reserve a room. And for everyone getting back into the swing of working at the DCC, here are some tips and reminders.

The work plan is subject to change in response to business needs or health guidance.

The work plan marks a change from a schedule proposed last spring that called for in-person activities on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Extensive feedback from across the division made it clear Tuesday was a preferred in-person day and that having flexibility for the second day was important. Senior leadership also incorporated guidance from the university’s How We Work initiative.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • The UC systemwide SARS CoV-2 Vaccination Program remains in effect. All staff on UC Merced controlled properties are required to comply. Vaccine and boosters are available at Student Health Services
  • Stay home if you are sick. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or test positive, notify the COVID Response Center
  • “Rapid” antigen tests are available at no charge. Pick up tests at the Granite Pass or COB ticket booths or order kits for your family here
  • Thank you to everyone for going above and beyond to get the academic year started and to close the 2021-22 Fiscal Year. Take advantage of vacation time. Rest, recharge and refresh – we’ll be fine while you’re gone.
