DFM in the Colorado Family Physician Magazine

The DFM and our Rural Program are featured prominently in the most recent edition of the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians magazine. Cleveland Piggott, MD, MPH, and Bhargavi Chekuri, MBBS, MD, MS are pictured on page 12 as Bhargavi receives the 2023 Healthier Colorado Climate Health Champion Award—and as Piggott appeared as a representative for Colorado at the AAFP Congress of Delegates. Roberto Silva, MD, has a featured article on pages 14 and 15 about his experience with being a preceptor. On the cover and pages 18 and 19 find stories and photos about Lindsey Paulsen (preceptor in Wray CO), Kaily Baer (Rural Program grad, now preceptor in Wray), Rural Program graduates: Christine Krentz, Sean Wickers, Ryan Imber, and Rural Program student Ashlyn Richie. Page 22 features a thoughtful SNOCAP update from Mary Fisher, MPH, Allison Sands, and the rest of the SNOCAP team. Thanks, all, for the great work that you do!

Patients are saying some nice things about our DFM clinicians:

Julianne Garrison, MD

"Dr. Garrison is a one-of-a-kind physician! She's been amazing from the day I started working with her, which just happened by chance - I was seeing a PA practicing under Dr. Garrison and needed a procedure that can't be performed by a PA. I had a complication and Dr. Garrison asked me to come in. Not only did she provide me with care related to the procedure, but she also took a look at my overall health started asking about medications I was prescribed by a separate physician at another practice. She found that the medications prescribed to me weren't in my best interest, and that most of them were unnecessary if a different medication had been prescribed to address my primary need. She offered to work with me as long as I was willing to work with her. I was nervous, but she promised to take care of me and she's never let me down. I'm now taking just 3 prescription medications, down from probably 7-10 daily medications, and I'm feeling so much better now that I'm not dealing with side effects of so many unnecessary medicines. Dr. Garrison lovers her patients and she always takes the time she needs to make sure you don't walk away until she's addressed the issues you bring to the table."

Meagan Maher, PA-C

"Meagan Maher is fabulous. She's very professional -- knows her stuff. She's also very personable - - she listens carefully and is easy to talk with. I'm an old guy and have been treated by many doctors over the years. Maher is one of the very best medical professionals I've had the good fortune to work with during my lifetime. I can't recommend her highly enough."
