Ready or not, winter market is here! This means we will be OPEN every Saturday from 10AM-12PM until the end of March, including the markets before and after Christmas! Please continue to abide by our market guidelines below, and wait for the bell before entering market! 

Our vendors will be awaiting with holiday wreaths, fresh greens, sweet potatoes, carrots, local meats and cheese, beautifully crafted gifts, original fabric masks, plant-based heat & serve meals, and more! 


Shop local with us this holiday season! Durham Farmers' Market merchandise in our Classic and "NEW" Tea Party design make great gifts for loved ones. 

Gift certificates are also available in $5, $10, and $20 amounts! Email us at info@durhamfarmersmarket.com if you need them shipped for an additional $4 handling fee.

Please look out for an email each Friday before market with a map to help familiarize you with our layout and vendor locations prior to your attendance.
How Can I Support the DFM? 
  • Volunteer to help us maintain our safety guidelines. Sign up here
  • Continue buying from our vendors in the way you feel safest. 
  • Come to market and follow the rules which will allow the market to remain open. 
  • Tell your friends that DFM is open, and if they aren't aware of the variety and quality of the locally grown meats and vegetables here, enlighten them! 
  • Pre-order when you can.  
  • If you are able, make a 
    here and help us fill the gap between the cost of meeting new requirements and the reduction in revenues as we operate with fewer vendors at market.
Market Safety Guidelines
  • Facemasks are required to enter the market.
  • Enter and exit the market at designated locations. 
  • Walk one direction through the market.
  • Only Certified Service Animals permitted.
  • Be mindful, keep 6' feet of safe space around you.
  • Pre-order and pre-pay is STRONGLY suggested so that traffic can flow through market quickly.
  • Customer lines will run down the side of each booth. 
  • Bathrooms at the Pavilion are closed to customers.
  • Customers should eat and drink outside of the market area.
Curbside Pickup: Interested customers should talk with vendors when placing their orders. Parking for Curbside will be along Hunt Street by the Garden at the Pavilion. Customers should remain in their cars, call their vendors, and vendor staff will bring their orders to the car.

To participate in our Double Bucks programs, stop by the Info table when you arrive (center of the Pavilion, near the restrooms).

Our staff will help you use your EBT card and DOUBLE YOUR BENEFITS with our tokens! That means if you use $10 of your benefits, we will give you $10 in EXTRA tokens for a total of $20 in tokens! There is no cap on the amount you can double at the market!

We also offer a cash matching program if you participate in SNAP, WIC, Section 8 housing, or live in housing authority sites. To receive this benefit, simply bring cash to the Info table and we will double the amount with tokens. 

**For our pre-holiday market on Saturday, December 19th we will be providing $10 extra in Double Bucks tokens for every transaction! 
Recipe of the Week
Collard, Carrot, and Raisin Salad 
Recipe recommendation courtesy of

  • 3 cups collard leaves, stems removed, leaves cut into 1-inch dice (1 bunch)
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp shallot, sliced into ⅛-inch rounds
  • ¼ tsp chili flakes
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ½ cup crushed pineapple
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 3 Tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smooth Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp honey
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ⅓ cup salt-roasted peanuts
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the collards and the carrots.  Set aside. 
  2. In an 8 to 10 inch saucepan or skillet, heat the olive oil, shallots, and chili flakes over medium heat until they really start to sizzle. 
  3. Just before they begin to brown, add the raisins, pineapple, orange juice, vinegar, dijon mustard, honey, and salt. Bring that thick mixture up to a boil and pour it over the collards. 
  4. Toss together and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to overnight. Just before serving, stir in the peanuts.

Special in the kitchen this week is SAUERKRAUT

Bonlee Grown Farm will be at market with fresh blueberry jam, apple butter, sparkling holiday jam, banana bread, pumpkin bread, local honey, pickled okra, sweet and sour pickles, hot pepper relish, chow chow, and more!

We have succulents great and small! Succulents make great Christmas gifts, host gifts, Christmas wreath decorations, and table arrangements. Preserve them this winter by bringing them inside and enjoy them year round. We'll also have shade houseplants like coleus, spider plants, aloe, peace lilies, and others. 

Jessica will also have feather earrings gathered from birds on the farm...think about your Christmas list!

Our Carolina Moon is ripe and ready to enjoy! This cheese is similar to a traditionally made Camembert or Brie in that it gets softer and more flavorful over time. The white mold is essential in breaking down the texture, starting at the outside and ripening the whole wheel over time. The process also releases aromas of mushrooms or roasted vegetables. We have it in our Holiday box with other cheeses and also in a Camembert box with a festive label. A small card inside includes a poem about making this cheese. It's perfect for a small gift.

Other cheeses are Fresh Ricotta, Dairyland Farmers, savory Hickory Grove, pungent Danziger, the younger New Moon, Home cheese, Pheta, Calvander (our version of Asiago), and our Thunder Mountain Swiss. We may also have some YoYo and Hot Farmers. Check our booth for these. Thunder Mt. Swiss is made in limited quantity in the winter months and is sold the following fall at Thanksgiving. It sells quickly, so get some now to enjoy on its own or for fabulous quiche or ham and Swiss sandwiches.

Our whey fed pork includes a full assortment of sausages and delicious pork chops and roasts. Check the board to see what other cuts we have for each market. All of our meat is from our farm and the ground beef is from pasture raised animals and is a customer favorite for its flavor. Use it for lasagna or tacos with our Farmers Cheese. Pair our Hot Italian sausage in a spaghetti sauce or our recipe for a soup with greens. Sausage, ground pork, cheese, and ground beef can be pre ordered through our website.

Haw River Mushrooms will be at market this Saturday with multiple varieties of fresh mushrooms. We will have plenty of blue oysters, some lions mane and shiitake as well as black pearls. If you can't decide on variety, you can grab one of our mushroom mixes (pictured)!

The 'Sungolds" are beginning to ripen in the greenhouse... with a delicate balance of keeping them from freezing. Organic LETTUCES are ready now.. so tender and delicious.  Mario and his helper have them covered to protect from the freeze in the field. Our last of the fall raised pastured hogs are at the processors now.. getting made into more wonderful sausages, chops, and other cuts. Angus steers are also at the processor being 21-day dry-aged.  Lambs are traveling to our coastal processor next week.. just in time for another upcoming holiday feast.

Parking & Street Information
The market is located at 501 Foster Street in The Pavilion at Durham Central ParkParking can be found on the street around the market, in the Ballpark Parking Lot on Corporation Street and in the Measurement Inc. lot, 423 Morris Street (look for the Durham Farmers' Market parking sign). There is a path at the bottom of that parking lot that leads you to the market. There are also public parking lots along Foster Street and on Morgan Street near the Carolina Theatre.

Durham Farmers' Market Animal Policy
Please note that the Durham Farmers' Market does not allow dogs or other pets in the market area during Market hours. Service animals are exempt from this rule.

Leashed pets are welcome elsewhere throughout Durham Central Park.
