Exploring the Possibilities for our Futures
Wednesday, December 6th (Early Release)
DHMS Students will participate in career and futures exploration activities. Sixth Grade will explore their strengths and personal talents - and possible future careers; Seventh Grade will explore their Occupational Outlooks and financial future; and Eighth Grade will learn about future career paths from people in a variety of careers!
If you (any grade level parent) are interested in sharing your career and career path (how did you get where you are), on December 6 from 8:30-11:30 please let us know here.

Volunteers Needed! DHMS Book Fair
Friday, December 8th-Friday Morning, December15th
The Book Fair is coming to Dorothy Hamm in less than two weeks, and we need your help! The Book Fair will run during the school day beginning Friday, December 8th through the morning of Friday, December 15th in ROOM 340 (not the library). There will be one evening event for families on Thursday, December 14th from 6-8 pm. We have many opportunities for parents to help during the week of the book fair. Please click below to sign up:

DHMS 8th Grade We Are Writers Event
Thursday, December 14th 6:30-8:00pm
Our eighth graders have been writing away this fall! We will hold our We Are Writers celebration on Thursday, December 14th from 6:30-8:00pm. We hope you can join us for this short evening of celebration. Stay tuned for more details, including the timeslots when students will be presenting.

Donate Your Reusable Shopping/Gift Bags
Dec 4-8: Please drop off any reusable shopping bags or gift bags you have sitting at home collecting dust. We would like to reuse them for the DHMS holiday gift event for families in need. Collection boxes are located near the main office.

Donate Your Plastic Film Waste & Help DHMS Win a Trex Bench
Holiday season is here, and that means you're probably getting lots of shipping envelopes from online retailers! That's great news because the DHMS Green Team is setting our sights on winning a super cool Trex bench for our school if we can collect 1000 pounds of plastic recycling material. Bring in your CLEAN, DRY plastic film waste like newspaper sleeves, plastic grocery bags, bubble wrap and all of those empty shipping envelopes. Just drop it in the plastic bins in the hallway near the front office and we'll do the rest. Please make sure all of the plastic is CLEAN, DRY and FREE of FOOD RESIDUE.

The APS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary and Visual Arts Contest is now OPEN!
- Students are invited to create art, poetry or essays that represent the powerful leadership qualities of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
- Students are encouraged to choose the trait that means the most to them and explore how it makes a difference.
- Entries are due by 5 p.m. on Wed, Dec. 20.
- Student submissions will be shared, and awarded students will be recognized in a special ceremony at the Jan. 25 Board meeting.
