The DHMS Back to School Block Party is THIS Friday, September 9th! Your entire family is invited to join us for a fun event with our DHMS community, including a DJ, food trucks, ice cream, games and activities!

DHMS Back to School Night & PTSA Meeting - Tuesday, September 13th
Dorothy Hamm MS Back to School Night is coming up next week on Tuesday, September 13th, and will be in-person this year! Join us for a welcome from Principal Ms. E. Smith at 6:25pm in the auditorium, followed by the DHMS PTSA Meeting at 6:30pm. Back to School Night will begin in your student's TA classroom at 7:00pm, after which you will have a chance to follow your child's schedule, changing classes every 10 minutes, wrapping up around 9:00pm. ***Parking will be limited; please plan to walk if possible, as the parking lots will be filled.***

Join the DHMS PTSA & Mark Your Calendar for PTSA Meetings
Thank you to everyone who has joined the DHMS PTSA already this year! We are up to 198 total PTSA members (131 parents/guardians, 67 students, and 1 staff member).
Please consider joining the PTSA this year. Your $10 per adult (parent and faculty) and $5 per student is for the whole year. To join online, visit dhmsptsa.org, or to pay by cash/check, you can download the paper form: DHMS PTSA Membership Form. Our PTSA serves all Dorothy Hamm families. ***Join the DHMS PTSA and receive a free raffle entry for a VIP ride to school for 1 student and a friend in an ACPD police cruiser.***

Opt Into the Online DHMS PTSA Directory
Make sure to complete the APS Online Verification Process (AOVP) in ParentVUE to opt into the Online DHMS PTSA Directory (under "PTA Directory Information"). The 2022-23 DHMS PTSA Directory will launch at the end of September, so opt in now to make sure you are included!
The online DHMS PTSA Directory allows parents to communicate with other DHMS parents. You can search by Name, Grade, or TA for students who choose to opt into the PTSA Directory. For additional details, visit: dorothyhamm.apsva.us/ptsa/ptsa-directory

Calling All Phoenix Artists: 2022 PTA Reflections Contest
The theme for this year's PTA Reflections Contest is “Show Your Voice!” Students can create anything that reflects that theme (art, music, literature, film, dance). Interested students should submit their entries (in person or online) no later than Friday, October 14th. The Reflections chairs, Jean Choi and Rashmi Sadana, are also looking for parent volunteers to be part of this exciting PTSA committee to help us recruit local artists who can serve as judges! Please contact them at reflections@dhmsptsa.org if you can help out with the committee or refer/find judges.

Submit Your Sports Physicals for 2022-23
Physicals are required for every student who wishes to try out or play on any sports team. Completed physicals can be mailed or dropped off to the DHMS Main Office. Click here for a copy of the form.

APS Updates COVID Guidance
APS is making a few adjustments to COVID protocols based on the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). Overall, most COVID-19 protocols have not changed. Primary changes are related to contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation procedures. View the updated COVID-19 Protocols and FAQ online. We will continue to adjust our protocols based on local conditions and the latest guidance and will communicate changes as needed.
