Recreation Programs and Facility Coordinator
Vlad Pierre started his work at the City in 2001 at the Gately Youth Center as a Youth Worker. During that time, he coached multiple sports and led various classes such as drawing, 3-D design, and physical activities. He was then promoted to Clubhouse Coordinator for the Middle School Partnership in 2006, developing a student led afterschool pilot that still exists today. From 2007 to 2017, Vlad became the Head Teacher of the Peabody 2-5 After School during the school year and spent summers working as the Assistant Coordinator of MSYEP. In 2017, he became the Activities Coordinator for the Division of Recreation, providing leadership to the Cambridge Program for Individuals with Special Needs, Fun Skate, Cambridge Pride, Camp Rainbow,and summer basketball leagues, and collaborating with Summer Food Program staff to run a robust Summer Food and Parks program. Vlad is also especially excited about the new Girls Pride and Rising Stars Instructional Basketball League that he was able to start in 2021-2022.

In his new role as Recreation Programs and Facilities Coordinator, Vlad will continue to support Recreation and oversee the War Memorial Recreation Center and Gold Star Pool. You can contact Vlad at vpierre@cambridgema.gov.

Senior Assistant Site Supervisor
Frankie Dejesus joined DHSP/Recreation in the year 2000 on a temporary basis, while also working in a group home for juveniles in need of support. In 2004, he was hired full-time as the Assistant Supervisor at Danehy Park. In that role, Frankie has given countless hours to ensure that the playing fields and open spaces of Danehy Park are well kept for all, especially our city’s young athletes. He also provided support in citywide initiatives and special events, including Screen on the Green, the Summer Concert Series, Fun Skate, etc. Frankie also prides himself for being a great cook and a lifelong bilingual resident of Cambridge.

As Senior Assistant Site Supervisor, Frankie will continue to support Recreation in a supervisory role at Danehy Park, providing critical oversight to the many uses of the recreational facility. You can contact Frankie at fdejesus@cambridgema.gov.

Aquatics Manager
Tom Tringale joins Recreation with a wealth of knowledge in the Aquatic field. Tom grew up swimming at the Billerica Boys and Girls Club, as well as competing for Shawsheen Regional Technical High School. After graduating from Shawsheen, Tom joined the Aquatics Department at the Billerica Boys and Girls Club as a Lifeguard and Swim Team Coach. Tom has coached all over Massachusetts at both the Club and High School Levels. For six years, he was the Aquatics Director at the Waltham Boys and Girls Club, growing their swim lesson program to over 100 students per session and their Swim Team program to 110 athletes. Tom most recently was the Aquatics Manager at the Belmont Hill Club for three years, while also Lifeguarding at the Boston Sports Club and Shawsheen Tech pools. He has also trained adults and kids who are preparing to compete in triathlons and Iron Man Competitions.

Tom is a certified Lifeguard Instructor and teaches numerous classes for both Lifeguarding and CPR/FIRST AID/AED certifications throughout the year. He is excited to bring more that 33 years of aquatic experience to the Recreation team. As Aquatics Manager, Tom will support Recreation by overseeing all aquatic programming at the Gold Star Pool and War Memorial Recreation Center. You can contact Tom at ttringale@cambridgema.gov.
